When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:
Wayspot Title: Vleermuistoren Polderslootpad
Location (lat/lon): 51.781055, 4.655212
City: Dordrecht
Country: The Netherlands
Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information): N/A
Additional Information (if any):
On January 30 I submitted a location edit request through the chat bubble for this Wayspot. I initially created this Wayspot on the wrong location, because I submitted it in-game and the location was hard to guess from the outdated aerial images (this area is under active development). With the new map and community tools, I could now use alternative imagery to correct the location to some 30 meters away (~51.780963, 4.655698) and thus submitted the request. However, a few days later (~February 5) I noticed the Wayspot was missing in-game and from the Wayfarer map. I received no communication on the request or its conclusion, and the Wayspot still shows up as ‘Accepted’ in my contributions overview (maybe I made a typo when inputting my email in the request?). What happened to this Wayspot?
When a Wayspot is removed, you won’t see any difference on your contributions page.
Any time you ask Niantic to make a correction, they will evaluate the Wayspot to see if correction is needed. They may do nothing, or what you ask, or something else entirely.
If you are appealing for reinstatement of the Wayspot, whatever it was, you should present evidence here that it exists currently, is where you say it is, and meets criteria.
The location is not located on private property. Here is a screenshot from a Dutch governmental map (e.g. wozwaardeloket.nl): the POI is the small gray block underneath the properties and near the walking path.
Indeed it is, that was the initial (incorrect) location. My request was to move it to 51.780963, 4.655698 (approximately, I don’t have the exact coordinates I submitted anywhere, but can’t be more than a meter off). On Google Maps it’s hard to judge because the map and aerial photos are outdated, but alternative sources - like Esri, OpenStreetMap, or the government data I referred to earlier - should help confirm that the new coordinates are not located on private property.
Here are the photos I used for the submission, which shows the object from two angles and that it’s located adjacent to a footpath. On the first photo you can even see the property boundary of the residential properties on the bottom right (it’s the fence made of branches/twigs).
You make a good case here. It is possible that the initial incorrect location caused the staff member who evaluated the move request to determine it as being SFPRP.
One option now is that Niantic read this thread (they do read all threads), and take action to restore the wayspot or to ask for more information.
The other option is to resubmit, using the web interface as you can include up to 5 supporting photos. Use these to confirm the location and confirm it as being on non-SFPRP property.
I don’t recommend resubmitting a removed Wayspot most of the time. Let staff weigh in first. There can be consequences for submitting something they do not consider eligible, especially if they have already removed it once.
