Hey All,
Just had this nomination pop up for a rock with a plaque on it,now while I like things like this and have one similar nearby to my location I have a slight concern there is another Wayspot I’m guessing 20 mtrs away behind a fence where this object is in front of the fence.
Now streetview lands on a bungalow style image when you get to the location so you need to scout around a bit going forward to see the live object however the building opposite the object seemed at first to just be a carpark and a business until I saw “pupils” and “school entrance” on a sign on the left and the colliery site on the right where the object is.
The submitter states it’s a trail that’s walked daily the same as the plaque on the rock marker but my concern is that you have to access or walk through a school site to access it.
Also if approved there is the potential for it not going live anyways because of spacing/inclusion per game.
So should the wheel have been approved in this location in the first place or is it a mis-judgement on behalf of the reviewer.
I’m curious as this is a bit of a grey area.
This Wayspot is already live.
There seems to be a pretty clear boundary between the school property and the road next to it where this Wayspot is, which appears to be an access road for the sports centre (which doesn’t appear to be part of the school), so I would be inclined to say it isn’t on school property and therefore it was correctly accepted.
The wheel is accepted in that location, but the nomination was for the rock and plaque.
You have to come in from the road up a long gated driveway before you get access to the school, sports centre and the old colliery site on either side.
Yes, the rock and plaque are already live, with the picture, title and description from what you posted. I can see it in Lightship. You must’ve been one of the last people to vote on it.
And yes, I can see that it’s gated, but it is still separated from the school by a fence, so that suggests it’s not part of the school property, especially as it leads to the sports centre.
Being next to school is fine. There are lots of examples in the U.K of council land being parcelled up to build a school in one corner, a park…
/play area next to it and a leisure facility next ot it as well. The school is distinct so something next to it is fine.
There is also no need to be concerned if something will be very close to another wayspot. If a wayspot does not meet the inclusion rules then it remains in Lightship ready to be used.

That’s weird then,as I added a note about the school property when I submitted as I was taking screenshot but it’s very fast to have gone live so quickly into lightship.
I can’t see inside there so I’ll have a snoop in a couple of days on the ingress intel map to see if it’s there.
This school setup is similar to the old secondary school I went to before it got knocked down for houses as it was part of a leisure centre and the school all on the same site.
It was more or less the closeness to the school and site where this Wayspot was located was the concern as there’s another post I was reading where there was a long list of wayspots on a school site that the user wanted removed so it made me question myself.
