Wayspot has been accepted but not added as a pokestop. Would it become a power spot in Pokemon GO?

I have a wayspot accepted in Niantic Wayfarer, but it has not been added as a Pokestop. Is there any way to get it in the game? Would it become a power spot?
Thanks,

Good day and welcome!

As the email says, there is no guarantee that a particular wayspot would appear in any preferred game. Each game has designed an algorithm to select wayspots from the database that us, community members, call the inclusion rules. These may operate differently from one game object to another.

While the gameboard concern is to fit these inclusion rules, Wayfarer would be concerned with the actual placement of the point of interest as it appears in real life. If those two clash together, real life placement takes priority; adjustments based solely on gameboard advantage may be considered abusive edits.

Here’s an article of the general overview of PoGO’s inclusion rules. Powerspots are new and may have incomplete information on how exactly it spawns.

Hello and welcome,

Just wanted to add that the community has noticed some things about Power Spots and where they appear; keep in mind that these are observations from the community. First off, they seem to refresh ever month, with the last 2 being around April 4th and May 4th. Second, it seems as only 2 Power Spots can be active in an L14 S2 cell at one time; L14 cells are the same ones used to determine gyms in PoGo. Lastly, it seems that Power Spots are about 22m away from stops/gyms, but this isn’t always the case.

So, it’s possible that there will be another refresh later this week, and they may add new unused Wayspots in. I can say that an unused Wayspot I had approved at the end of April has gotten used as a Power Spot during May, and I did know when nominating that it wouldn’t be a stop/gym, as there was already a gym in the L17 cell that it’s in.
