Wayspot in private residential property

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Statue Jeanne D ARC

  • Location (lat/lon): 48.78234865805677 / 2.3184732558535837

  • City: Bourg La Reine

  • Country: France

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any):

The road at the end of which the statue is located has been closed. It is part of a private residential property and is not authorized to the public (locked gate, access by digital code). Attached is a streetmap view, where we can clearly see the gate at the entrance closing the passage, the digital code and a sign with the words “Propriété privée, accès réserve aux résidents”, which translates into English as “Private property, access reserved for residents”.

I remain at your disposal if you need more details.

Hello and welcome @Bindaetteok
If the gate leads to a small group of individual properties then the fact that it is restricted is not an issue.
The guidance is that as long as it is not a single family private residential property then it is ok and that some people can access it, makes it ok.
There is no requirement that everybody can access all wayspots all of the time.

Hello and thank you @elijustrying for your quick reply. Thank you for this clarification, I was not aware of this particular guidance point.

This Wayspot has translated into a Gym in Pokemon Go (which is as I indicated inaccessible to the entire community).
What is unfortunate is that the Wayspot is only useful (hypothetically!) to the inhabitants of about 3 houses, whereas if it did not exist, another pokestop in the same L14 S2 cell could have been eligible to become a Gym and beneficial to the entire community.

While I understand the explanation, the problem is not so much that it is not accessible to everyone all the time, but that its existence for the benefit of perhaps no one is to the (certain) detriment of the greatest number.

Hi,
I can understand why you have found this frustrating.

But like so much of Pokémon Go this is another example of the downside of a random pick.

There is nothing that can be done about this.

Was this the second point in a level 14 cell?
If it was, then have a good explore to try and find some more wayspots if you get 4 more you would get another gym …which would hopefully be accessible.

Thanks for the appeal, @Bindaetteok We took another look at the Wayspot in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.
