Earlier this week, we fixed an issue with our Removals process where some Wayspot removal requests, both new and old, were not reflected on the game maps. However, after implementing the fix, we learned from the community that it significantly impacted game maps just before major game events. To ensure the best event experience, we are collaborating with the game teams to revert this change for the duration of the event. We plan a smoother rollout in the near future. Please note that these Wayspot removals are appropriately requested and their upcoming removal is not a bug.
Thank you for your reports, patience, and understanding as we work towards a solution that benefits everyone.
Thanks for the update! There have been significant changes in our area, and we have new representatives of the company who are interested in revoking the old requests. What’s the best way to proceed with that?
It’s good that you’ve identified and fixed an issue, and that you’re letting players enjoy the wayspots for the upcoming event, but I’m now curious about something, and because I know you can’t share specific details about these requests, I’m not sure if you’ll be able to answer it in even the vaguest way that you could do so. That won’t stop me from trying though haha.
I’m curious whether any of the removal requests that were not successfully actioned when they should’ve been were then requested on additional occasions? Again, I expect no specifics because I know you can’t give them, but a simple yes or no without any further elaboration couldn’t hurt, right? I’m only asking because it does make you wonder if anyone who complained about these being a nuisance ended up having cause to complain again, or whether they assumed the problem had been dealt with and players have still been using these locations with no further complaints against them.
Again, I’m not expecting much out of this, but you can’t blame me for being curious!
This is a very interesting issue.
However, I have some doubts as to whether this is actually a Wayfarer issue.
If the removal notices were issued by landowners and facility managers due to real-world trouble caused by playing PoGo, then only pokestops should be removed.
Wayspots should not be removed so as not to affect other games.
This is because, if PoGo causes trouble and affects other games, players who enjoy those games will be strongly dissatisfied with PoGo trainers.
To avoid this, the Wayfarer should negotiate with the PoGo to ensure that only pokestops are removed.
Wayspots requested for removal via the online form can be removed from Wayfarer. I have been informed of this by staff, that each web form request is individually reviewed, and if removal from the Wayfarer map is warranted, this will be done. If removal from just a game map, such as PoGo, is the right action to take, this may be done, but the Wayspots may be left on the Wayfarer map.
We are unsure of what event(s) this could be related to. PoGo has many events happening from the end of May through the end of August, so it could be any number of these. I don’t think staff has to inform us of the specific event(s) in this case, just to let us know when the issue has been resolved.
Have anyone had their stops returned yet? I’ve been waiting on mine for almost a month after a successful appeal. Not sure how much longer this will take
