I’m trying to submit a new wayspot via the Web Submission.
The photo I tried to submit just disappeared the first time around, leading to an insta-reject. On the second try, the photo was suddenly blurry, so also insta-reject, even though the original file is perfectly good quality. Same thing on the third, I even tried a new version of the file in case it was corrupted.
Now I’m down to two submissions left.
I’m using Google Chrome on my Macbook.
Hey @wooperIooper ,
Thanks for reporting it.
I can see that. The main image was not submitted successfully.
That’s a bummer.
Could you please provide the below information:
- Which image format are these images in?
- What are the files sizes of these images?
Thanks,
They are jpg and they are around 3.5MB. I think I tried a png first and I wasn’t able to select that
This is the one that completely corrupted I think
Another weird thing is that it seems I never received submission emails for them, even though everything submitted fine

Hey, just FYI from my own experience, I’ve noticed that the web submit doesn’t perform well in low signal areas. When I’m struggling with network connectivity, i switch to PGO and do upload later.

I was at home submitting via Wifi which seemed to work just fine, but thank you!
Hi @NianticAaron. It is happening again
I see it failed to process. I also see that the other submission went ahead without any issues. Will it be possible to try this submission with different set of images?
I went to take some new photos but I’m out of nominations so I can’t try at the moment.
Are you able to confirm whether the submission failed due to the main photo or due to the supportings? Two of the supporting images were converted from png to jpg, while the main photo was one I used for the first submission but then cropped to resubmit. Would ML/ the server automatically reject if I reuse photos but cropped to retry a rejected submission?
Unfortunately, no
It may if it deems it ineligible. So, it’s better to use different images.

I assisted the user, and it turns out the issue was that .png format files were being uploaded with a .jpg extension. The images had not been converted into jpg files as the user had thought – it was only the extension that had changed. The png encoded files were not being processed by the server correctly, resulting in missing images. This causes instant-rejection from the server, with rejection text below
Reviewers provided these top reasons for not accepting this submission:
- The photo submitted is of low quality. For example, the photo is blury, too dark, or taken from too far away
Converting the images from png to jpg correctly resolved the issue.
