Hello! I’m a photographer and I went out with my camera to take photos of some Wayspots, but when I uploaded them, my submissions didn’t go through (I didn’t get an confirmation email either), and they showed up as ’not accepted’ in my contributions page and the photo on these submissions is missing:
Initially I thought perhaps the original upload size was too big, so I resized it (to 1300x1950) and tried again but the same problem occurred. The photos are in JPG and unedited.
Does anyone know what could be causing this issue for me? Thanks in advance
Thanks for the reply! I’ve not have any network issues with uploading so far and this problem occurred with 3 separate uploads so I assume it’s the size still. Should I try again with another resize? If so, do you have any recommended resolutions for the image?
Give at least one try using the “upload later” feature. I don’t usually use that if I can upload on the spot, but I have noticed in lower signal areas it works better for me than the regular upload. Even if it isn’t your connection, maybe it’ll work for the higher image quality.
The reason is likely the images carry metadata connected to the device you used to take them. Simply resizing is probably not going to be good enough. If you can clear that data or just screenshoot them to make a new file that will likely work?
I tried this and used the “upload later” feature that @Gendgi suggested but I got the immediate rejected email again The screenshot method @tomwe suggested did work. Bummer that it reduces the image quality though… Either way, thanks to all 3 of you for your suggestions. If there are any more ideas for a solution I’d love to hear it.
Regardless of the compressed quality, I hope the photo ends up looking good once accepted.
Maybe you’ll have a little better luck if you try adding better quality photos as a photo contribution once live?
Edit to add: these were contributions to live Wayspots? I think I missed that but it looks like that in the screenshot. It might take some more experimenting around to figure out the best sizing you can do. I’d also suggest keeping track of aspect ratio- I personally think 1:1 usually looks best across the different places photos are used in GO. Wide aspect ratios can make it even more grainy on gifts.
Thank you! They were indeed submissions for live Wayspots. Appreciate the tips If I were to experiment around a bit more to figure out the best sizing, would I not risk my account receiving a strike? I’m worried because they are immediate rejects.
If you have access to Photoshop or something like it, copy paste the whole image into a new document then save as a new jpg. You’ll retain the image quality but lose the metadata.
