Web Submission v1 - Discussion

I was unaware it affected featured contributions, too. But I read the comments and refrained from spreading misinformation.

Thanks for moving on! Me, too!

There is a difference between not knowing and purposely spreading misinformation. Please do not blame those that do not know for trying to spread misinformation, as that’s quite hurtful.

When I’m not sure of something, I say “I think,” “If I remember correctly,” or other words to help state that I could be wrong.

I’m sure it was hurtful for the original person in this chain of replies to come back and see a derailing posts telling them they’re wrong and off topic when reporting to the literal topic.

I thought we’d both moved on, my bad.

And I will delete my posts. Time to move on and not get so upset at someone not knowing. Again, thank you Roli for informing us.

Hi!
Great work, congrats :tada:
Feedback:
It would be good if It also included a vision of cells.
It would skyrocket it’s utility and usefulness and use.
When Will such feature added?

Being staff have never confirmed the cells, but instead the community figured them out, I don’t know if this will be a feature
unless staff do confirm their use.

You also have to remember that Wayfarer is not just for Pokemon Go.

Wayfarer does not want you to “not bother” just because it won’t become a Stop / Gym as it could be used as a “Powerspot” or in other games that do not used the same “inclusion riles”.

Yes
but you won’t be fooling your unsuspecting players that way
in any case, something needs to be done and fixed. Playing on Pogo players’ unawareness and desire to create PokĂ©Stops is simply NOT fair and is stressful as well as time-consuming.

The wording from the app submission does seem that the hidden inclusion rules are unfair. It leaves a lot of context untold despite the acceptance email’s disclaimer text.

However from perspective of a separate program, it doesn’t seem to be within its scope to disclose exactly how each game treats the wayspots. For example if I were to source broiler chickens from a farm, it doesn’t feel right for the farmer to disclose my restaurant’s recipes just because.

It may be good to change the wording to a more Wayfarer-centric one but it also feels wrong for a restaurant owner to ask the exact feed formulation for the broilers being supplied to them. Without prior agreement from both parties, that is.

I agree with the first paragraph, but I feel the last two are a stretch and trying to justify something that has little justification.

Players of Pokemon Go use the interface that starts with a button “New Pokestop”, followed by “Take a Pokestop Photo”, “Add Pokestop Title”, “Add Pokestop Description”, “your Pokestop nomination”.

It does not matter what qualifiers are then mixed into the text in the emails, because people don’t read detailed text. Good system design means taking this into account and ensuring that important information is not buried but is up-front.

Since the process is actually “Submit a Wayspot”, the information and narrative is very bad, from the perspective of system design. Look at how your users use your system and design it accordingly.

It is not reasonable to justify that the entire process says you are creating a pokestop, but some rules somewhere else mean that maybe you aren’t. It is expected that players will get confused/irritated/annoyed by this and they are not wrong to feel this way.

Totally agree that “Pokestop Contribution” and “New Pokestop” text should be changed but that is not a Wayfarer issue, it’s down to the Pokemon Go team.

The 1st screen does mention “nomination”, that does infer that you are suggesting something that “might” become a Pokestop.

Morally things could be much clearer, legally they are covered.

Although Niantic don’t confirm the “cell” system for anybody that really wants this information there are ways to get it, Niantic want’s real life points of interest, whether they will appear in a specific game is no interest to them.

Also remember that a massive amount of todays stops / gyms came from players of a different game so no complaints if my nomination is used elsewhere.

We seem to be hijacking this thread so will bow out

Edit: Suggested this and the 6 posts above are moved to their own thread as “off topic”.

Please keep conversation in this thread relevant to the topic

6 posts were split to a new topic: Nominating

Hi,

Suggest the 7 posts above are also off topic and should be split?

Couple of mine included (sorry).

Thanks.

Submission is not working on safari for iphone because it says it doesn’t have access to my location even though I’ve given it permission. What can I do to fix this?

Hi @wooperIooper
Only a guess but maybe try to enable “Allow” in your last screenshot.

That did not work either unfortunately

Oh :people_hugging: Thanks for testing.
Could you use a diffrent browser until staff can take a look?

I had this happen for me yesterday. Worked fine in the morning but in the evening it stopped across both my Chrome and Firefox browsers on my phone (admittedly, Chrome may already not have been working - I don’t regularly use it). I asked about it elsewhere and nobody commented.

Did you recently access the submission screen through the PoGO app?

Have you tried a different web browser to see if it works there?
