I recall reading somewhere on here that fitness centers / gyms were pretty much always eligible/acceptable, even if they’re part of a large chain.
Yes, they are eligible as a great place of exercise.
No, they are not an easy accept because of the “generic business” rejection and the tool tip about “chains”
When I submit them, I try to point out the features that make it a great place for exercise. If they get to community review, I usually have to appeal.
But then a wayspot that’s based on a fitness center that’s part of a chain should definitely not be removed, right?
Because that’s what inspired me to make this topic.
I don’t see which removal criteria this meets.
there are various reasons why it could have been removed. Can’t assume it was because its “part of a chain”
It’s obviously not a school or a private residence. It doesn’t obstruct emergency services, it obviously has pedestrian access, and it’s not a duplicate. The only removal criterium that’s not complete and utter nonsense is if it was permanently removed, which it isn’t.
But maybe @NianticAaron could shed a little light on why this wayspot is gone.
Generic business is not a choice for removal. However, it’s possible that the property owner or the fitness center manager asked Niantic to remove the Wayspot. This is possible, and most likely what happened.
Oh, and the Wayspot is still in Lightship. This would point even more to PoGo getting a request to remove the stop from a manager/property owner. Or it’s in the same S2 cell as another Wayspot.
It looks like it’s removed from Ingress too. No idea why it’s still in Lightship. Maybe they’re slow on the sync. And I can verify that there aren’t any other wayspots in the cell so that’s not it either.
I don’t think there’s much speculation we can do on our end.
@NianticAaron is there any way you can confirm why this was removed?
