My poke stop keeps getting rejected due to “Wayfarer criteria” and I don’t understand why. Why can I do to help this pass?
“Wayfarer criteria” usually indicates that Niantic’s ML (machine learning ai) model was unable to detect anything in the nomination that met the Wayfarer criteria as stated here: Niantic Wayfarer
This waterfall appears to be located in an island with no safe pedestrian access, so it would not be eligible:
Must be safe and publicly accessible by pedestrians (indoor or outdoor)

This looks like something that should be allowed to go to reviewers, but eMiLy has rejected it. The only ways around this are to appeal this submission or to try different photos - less grass and more tightly focussed on the POI would be the best start.

Agree that this will either need to be appealed or resubmitted with a better main photo. The photo guidelines do note not to include too much foreground/background, so taking a photo closer or cropping to remove some of the fore/background would be helpful to get it by ML. We do know that ML doesn’t quite care for too much fore/background at times.
Also, maybe a better description, such as saying antique or historical instead of old. Old doesn’t highlight why this is of importance and worth exploring, while antique or historical makes it more noteworthy.

Not related to this submission, but I have a station for a disused railway that is now a multi-use trail and the only remaining feature is the platforms (which I would love to see as a POI). I have never managed to get a photo past eMiLy. Maybe I have to use an appeal 
Either that, or cut away the small bits of vegetation growing around the platform edge…

I forgot I did get one past eMiLy, but reviewers rejected it and I haven’t got round to retrying. This might help the op though.

The name change is a good idea, is it possible to change it before it’s published?
If a nomination is in queue, you can edit it in Contribution Management. And it’s the description, not the title, that could use the change. If the nomination is already in voting , no edits can be made. If it’s been accepted, edits can be made in-game, if the Wayspot meets PoGo inclusion rules.

If you’re asking about the appeal, you can’t change the text or photo for the appeal. All you can do is provide additional text that the Wayfarer staff reviewer will see.
If you nominate a lot and need to keep appeals available, I do suggest you re-try, first. If you have both appeals available and don’t nominate much, it doesn’t hurt to try appealing, wait a few days for the reply, and thank worst case you can apply the suggestions and are only set back a few days.
