Are for which criteria: Gather/Socialize — Explore — Exercise
I’m probably 40% Gather 20% explore and 40% Exercise
Obviously when you submit, you think something is eligible. But when you do so what percent of the time do you think your submission is Iffy or a No-Brainer. I’m probably at 33% Iffy 66% No-Brainer
Of your acceptances, what percentage have been by Niantic and what from community? I’m at about 20% Niantic 80% Community
Hmm. This would be hard for me. The criteria is actually “socialize.” That doesn’t have to be limited to a “gathering.” I think any sports field/court that allows you to play with or against another person meets both criteria of socialize and exercise. I classify playgrounds that way also.
For me trail markers check all 3 critiera
Would be quite a lot for some submitters to figure out actually, as some would have hubdreds or even thousands of nominations
I’ve only got 130 or so, but still would take a bit
Gee, I dunno. I have over 600, so too much work to manually count. But scrolling thru, I do mostly submit for explore - murals, fountains, etc. More than 50%.
For exercise, I count ten with “Footbridge”, at least that many tennis courts, plus some trail markers.
Socialize - at least 30, lol.
I think “Explore” applies to things that were created for you to come see that object. A statue, historical marker, etc - are destinations to their own.
A sports field or trail marker was not made for you to come look at that field or marker. They were made for exercise.
I would say 20% socialize, 40% explore and 40% exercise. Most of what I have nomitaded have been trailmarkers so I think they count both for exploring and exercising. I think perhaps 5% has been approved by Niantic, the rest by the community.
I usually nominate what I think is likely to be accepted, whether it’s eligible or not is a different matter in my opinion. There are plenty of things that are eligible that I don’t even bother nominating (like local restaurants and cafes) because it is bound to be rejected. And there are some ineligible things (like graffiti) I routinely nominate since it is usually accepted.
This would be a great way to reach people who don’t read the forums - demonstrating in a personalized way, that those three things are very important.
But I don’t see Niantic paying someone to add it. They don’t even give us total number submitted, total In Queue, etc. Once you have a hundred or a thousand nominations, you just have to get a third-party plug in to summarize your stuff. Very strange for something so basic.
I work in marketing and we send out “year in review” emails to our customers to summarise what theyve done across a year - Spotify do this particularly well which you might have seen
Not trying to be negative, but Niantic don’t seem to do any kind of personalised messaging even down to communicating with us based on which events we have already bought tickets to or not!! So this sort of thing seems a step well beyond their current CRM capabilities, even though it would be BAU for many companies
Most of mine are explore. The vast majority of my nominations have been for murals, sculptures, and other public artwork. I’ve also nominated nine memorial plaques for notable Milanese citizens and WWII victims so far this year.
Most of mine are explore/exercise - lots of trailheads, trail markers, footbridges, observation decks, and nature signs. I tend to submit things I find when out watching birds or in areas where specific species might appear. Rural areas are my primary focus and walking is my primary form of exercise, so it makes sense I have fewer city nominations.
Being I’m not an avid outdoor person, most of mine are explore and social, with some possibly being considered for exercise. My last few were 3 war memorial stones at the county courthouse outdoor plaza (only 1 of the 4 had a Wayspot, and I just happened to be there to vote), a paint-your-own pottery studio, utility boxes with art, and I could go on.
