My family bought a restaurant almost 1 year ago. We recently changed the name and type of restaurant 1 month ago. The restaurant itself is a Poke stop (way before I bought it) I have submitted the updates like name, photo, category multiple times and they keep getting rejected over and over again. On google it’s clear it’s a new restaurant there but I am not sure why the community rejects it (no reason given)

@AychXP Welcome to the community! What you are trying to do is called “repurposing”. Be careful as this can be considered abuse. Ignoring that it’s your family’s place - the previous restaurant may have been eligible because it was a great place to socialize. The new restaurant may not meet the same standards. When I vote to approve or reject a restaurant, I look at the ratings and number of reviews on various sites. This helps me understand the popularity of the place.
The correct way to accomplish “repurposing” is to remove the old restaurant and then nominate the new one and let it stand of fall on it’s own merit.

The link is for reporting a wayspot. This way they will be able to get the old location removed prior to nominating their current restaurant.
Niantic has been consistent that businesses need to meet criteria on their own. So removing and old one in combination with nominating their new one.
There is leeway on things like murals. see below threads for good discussion on various examples:
Yes, they can. The new candidate will be vetted and changes will be made if needed.

So based on the first response I now reported the pokestop as incorrect to try and get it removed first. So I don’t know how that affects the process.
Either way - I have submitted it from the link as well. I would really love to keep this pokestop but have it reflect it correctly.

if Aaron doesn’t have a chance to reply, i would still use that form and explain the situation. even if the removal process has been started, i know that staff also have the ability to reinstate removed wayspots.
let us know how this goes. i would have given you the same advice if i had seen this first. this is brand new information.
Ok so update:
I appealed the rejection for name and photo since then I made this post and got suggestions.
- requested the pokestop is incorrect
- just filled out that link from Aaron to get it removed/updated eventually
And now I just got an email my appeal was approved and the name and photo has been updated.
That is all I wanted but I am not sure with all the other requests if the stop will be removed now. But I don’t need it removed anymore.
I work 12 hours a day there and it’s so convenient for me lure it up for everyone and get pokeballs and catch pokemon.
Please don’t make my work day sadder by removing the stop.
