Why do I need to write an entire essay on what makes a location important for the community?

Completely agree. My examples are just a few sentences, not too long, but give the reviewer enough info as to why they meet criteria.

BTW, do I need to include “easily accessible” in the supporting text if it is? No, but it’s kind of habit.

Thanks, Based on some of the other inputs it seems it’s not really worth the time or effort to even try to add spots. If we can go to the effort to nominate the reviewers should at least be able to say what guidelines we violated.

“Writing an essay” may actually mean that reviewers don’t wade through it. Just tell them the pertinent facts about the place. I mean, Indian style pizzas sound unique and interesting to me.

This is the last restaurant I submitted that was accepted in community review, if you would like another example:

I don’t think that is an essay, but it does tell the reviewer why this place is unique and interesting.

I had very little in my supporting section besides a link to confirm the statements I made in the description.

This is for you to decide, many people here have added many waypoints to the Database without “writing an essay”. If you decide that it is too much trouble then don’t do it.

The process gives the nominator the images / text fields to give this information. The submitter gets the option to Accept or Reject for 1 of the questions. We do not get the option to explain why.

Thanks! Obviously there are limited options in a town of 1500 to identify locations. I lived in large metropolitan areas like Silicon Valley and Phoenix area before moving to small town America. Playing Pokemon becomes much more difficult with limited stops/gyms.

Again, thanks for your inputs.

I am simply asking that you do not make assumptions about other users here, which can be seen as misleading and incorrect.

When a nomination is rejected, we are informed as to why it was rejected. If you don’t understand the rejection, you are more than welcome to ask us and we can help.

What we are asking is that you not assume that all reviewers are the same, as it seems like you may have the idea that reviewers reject a good deal of eligible POIs. I have to disagree with this, as being that I both submit and review, I follow the guidelines and criteria for both. These have not been set by the users, but by staff, and not following them could lead to issues.

If you have had issues with nominations getting rejected in the past, you are more than welcome to open up a new thread in the Nomination Support section, and we are glad to take a look at them.

And being you are in an low-density area, you may be interested in a test that is going on in some European countries right now, where stops/gyms have been put at street corners and bus stops. If this test goes well, it may open up more play locations for others in low-density areas: Testing New Wayspots in Pokémon GO

Thanks, I am well aware of the sponsorships
by PoGo.

Still the approval process seems to be very arbitrary. There are stops and even gyms in cities that clearly violate the terms for nomination. When an area has hundreds if not thousands of stops/gyms the game is much easier and enjoyable to play. 6 gyms and 17 stops not so much. Progress is slow….

Understood, thanks!

And we do have processes to request removal of Wayspots we believe do not meet criteria. We can request removal in-game, via help chat, via the Reporting Abuse link at the top of the forums, or the Wayspot Removals link.

I think it would be best if you started a new thread to discuss all of this, since it doesn’t pertain to the OP’s question. It’s best to keep threads on topic, and this is now getting a bit off-topic with this discussion.

So if I included all of this, I’ll just chalk it up to bad luck that it got denied.

Crazy that mods removed part of your comment when you were sharing that you felt you were getting tone from them. I think this is why some members of this community are arguing on other topics about mod abuse.

Obviously these are examples that improves your chances, you can’t just type these in and hope reviewers will “trust you” which is why I added the bit about including their website.

You have to remember that the Reviewers are going to be mostly local and they are the 1st group you have to convince.

Errors can happen, this is why you can Appeal which is then sent to a staff member.

If both of these have failed you have to consider that it’s a problem with the location or your nomination.

I can not guarantee you will get instant success as it depends on many things but it is going to help.

You could always make a thread in “Nomination Support” stating what you plan on nomination, show the images and text, people here will let you know whether it is a definitely No or what you could change to improve your chances.

It’s then up to you whether you take the advice onboard but I would recommend that if the regulars here are advising it would be wise to consider it

Good luck.

What attitude? I went out and looked at the website and the Google map entry for this restaurant. I gave you factual information that their own website doesn’t help sell the location as any kind of special spot.

Others told you to list things like if it hosts game night. But I went to look for that info and didn’t find it. We can’t make the place sound more inviting than their own marketing team (or owners).

Then I gave you a suggestion of one interesting thing to look for inside because it could be something to talk about.

Everyone here has tried to help you. Unfortunately, you’ve chosen to complain rather than listen to the help we are trying to give.

The important thing to remember is that all of us have different opinions, and different ways of expressing those opinions. Some are more direct, some are more empathetic, some more optimistic, etc. As long as we are following the community guidelines for the forums, then we are welcome to post our opinions in the style we feel is best per the guidelines.

Thanks, no need to go further I did not mean to cause an issue. I worked in high tech for many many years in a high level engineering position. Lots of stuff in writing. No benefit of seeing the body language means you learn to read tone. Should not have used that particular skill in the thread. My bad!

Let’s just drop it and move on.

Anyway rejection is common for business. Thats just how wayfarer work. You must accept that sometimes ,even eligible nomination might be rejected. If you truly believe it fit wayfarer criteria., you can resubmit it with more evidence. Appeal it again if its rejected.

If you think its too much hassle, then perhaps consider moving on and try another candidate.

You don’t need an essay. You can probably write a description of 2 sentences, the first talking about the Pizza and the 2nd talking about the gaming.

I like submitting restaurants and cafes, but they can get rejected at times. Its annoying, but they can be good submissions, so if you love the place, persevere :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
