This nomination for a former pub built in the late 1800s keeps being rejected for private residence. The building itself has been converted into a shop front with the upstairs section as flats. This is clearly seen on google maps and in the main photo. Am I missing something that makes this ineligible?
I did see this one, and after scrolling down to the supporting text I voted to accept it. If you read the text and examine the building on StreetView it’s clearly a shop at the bottom and flats on the top. Rejecting as a SFPRP is clearly incorrect.
However, I’d say that it’s marginal in terms of notability. The redevelopment seen on StreetView - https://maps.app.goo.gl/T6aj5N8KoG7hL8Jx7 - did remove a lot of the character as seen on Flickr - King William IV, Lower Edmonton, N9 | A closed pub in Edmont… | Flickr
Perhaps pushing the historical aspect more may make give it a nudge, it seems to have opened in 1851 which is only 14 years after William IV died. I found these:
I’d also push the historical aspect of the building more, even replacing Former with Historic in the title, as well as maybe replacing Pub with Building; you certainly can explain in the description that the building was originally home to the pub. I also agree that since the first floor facade has been replaced to reword any kind of mention of the facade or leave that out entirely; I would still include that it’s of Tudor style though.
Thank you!
In the U.K. we tend not use the word historic in the same way as the US.
For me the title is fine.
The conversion that has taken place is not unusual. As this building is on streetview, I would tackle the erroneous idea that it is PRP, by using the supplementary to show that evidence that it’s commercial on the ground floor. So instead of saying zoom in do that for the reviewers.
Personally I would also take out the capitalised PLEASE READ. Some reviewers will be put off by that. Shouting at them. Some might start to think there is something suspicious going on. If you resubmit remember it is likely that this is the first time most of the reviewers will have seen i
