That is a way to add a wayspot to an area that doesn’t currently have anything.
It’s easier to get a LFL approved than a massive parking lot…

So basically LFL also don’t fit the socialize criteria but the community has decided to just skirt the rules on that one?
For this parking lot? I haven’t seen anything yet that convinces me it meets any criteria. Would you like to share a photo?
No it doesn’t. But people also socialize there. That’s been my point since the beginning.
I’m not nominating the red steam pipe coming out the side of the building.
Did you provide evidence of this or merely state it?
Remember that the big 3 criteria is “OR”. Socialise OR Exercise OR Explore.
The LFL fits at least 1 and maybe 2 of these.
The Parking lot has not been proven to fit any.
Someone else recommended providing flyers of gatherings at the parking structure, which is absurd because no one hosts events at the structure.
It is not officially an event space. But people gather and socialize there on a daily basis throughout the day.
The only way to prove that would be to video people gathering and chatting there, which I think would be invasive and unwelcome.
Lol that’s what I’m saying. LFL shouldn’t be a good example of a Wayspot based on current socializing rules which everyone is hammering me with here. But everyone just decided to let it slide and decide LFL ARE.
proves the point that it is not a meeting space
Without doxxing myself? No
@cyndiepooh just shared the relevant eligibility page.
Social includes “something that draws us together to share an experience in a locally and culturally relevant way.” LFL meet this explanation.
By whom? Who has told you that putting up a LFL is a great way to add a wayspot to your community?
Okay. I assume this post was to get the appeal rejection overturned. I don’t see that happening.
How? Someone can just buy a LFL for $200 and stick it on their lawn all by themselves.
Close, but not exactly. The little libraries were listed in the old criteria, which included “points of interest”, “nod to education” and similar stuff. Then, when criteria was replaced with “great place to explore, exercise, or be social”, niantic stuffed LFLs into one of those, even though LFLs technically are not great places for that.
It is more that they are an example of social outreach to the community.
I often see posts from people helping out in threads about suburban rural deserts, with suggestions that if they could get an LFL installed (not on SFPRP) this could be added as a wayspot. This statement from @tupelobound is correct.
Yeah but not great place to socialize, that’s the point.
Would fail as Single Family Private Residence Property but you could request that the local council places one at a park etc.
