I’m well aware you are not reviewing the submission..
I stated that it is unique – meaning it is one of a kind; and that it locally owned. I have already clearly provided this information. Hence my confusion. – So you are saying ‘unique’ and ‘locally owned’ are not acceptable language to get this message across?
It’s not a hard and fast rule, but as a reviewer, I don’t want to spend time looking for something. In this case, it may be one of a kind, but a reviewer who may spend a minute and not able to find what they need to say decide on. As a submitter, you need to treat us reviewers as if we don’t know anything about the location, and tell us what we need to know to make us say Yes, this is a great place to Socialise, Explore or Exercise.
To add to what Pidgey says, your locals may know it’s a great place without additional information but people from further afield may see it.
We have a global challenge starting soon, so if you resubmit, someone from anywhere on the globe could find it to review so everything needs to be as tight and as clear as possible.
I live in Iowa and I may need to make a visit! That looks delicious and I love the decor!
I just want to say that I hope you keep trying. This looks like a great place to socialize and explore, key criteria of eligibility. Sometimes it takes a few tries and I hope you end up successful with this!
Something uncomfortable I’ll add, the location currently appears to be ineligible to be a PokéStop. It shares a proximity with the nearby historic bank, so it approved it won’t sync as a PokéStop. It will be approved as a Wayspot for Niantic Scopely to use as they like - presumably it may be able to be a Powerspot in the future.
I know the prompt tells you that you are submitting a “Pokestop” but you are actually submitting a Wayspot to the database. The Wayspot can only become a Pokestop or gym if it is alone in a level 17 S2 cell. This is a good article about S2 cells and PoGo: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/
To visualize, I looked up the address and marked it with the red pin on this Ingress Portal map.
Lola Handcrafted Churros would be in the same L17 S2 cell as that bank, so could not become a Pokestop or gym. It might be eligible to be a Power Spot.
@Gendgi is one of the best at seeing the issue we should be addressing. I am so glad he posted.
Everyone that submit cafe will also said things like this . thats why u nd to put extra effort in supporting information so that reviewer can be convinced. Its ur own loss if you cant provide more supporting information. Reviewer cant just take ur word for granted.
I could use the same description for a lot of small locally owned businesses in my local area. That alone doesn’t make a place an interesting place to visit.
To add from this advice, it has been stated to be unique although it isn’t clear how it is unique. By clearly stating what is implied, more people can be convinced that it is unique. Generic/Non-Generic Businesses also highlights that the submitter should support what is told in the nomination.
If you can expound how it is unique in the nomination itself, it can bode better than the previous attempt.
And just to add. I am not saying that the OP’s nomination isn’t interesting and it could be worthy of visiting and socialising, I just believe reviewers should be given more information that would convince them why something should be a Wayspot. I learnt that lesson via this forum when I submitted a Jamaican restaurant in my local area.
I mean, I’m willing to step out and say I absolutely would have accepted the nomination as it is.
@RitheGuardian I really hope you don’t feel piled up on in here - you did ask for some guidance and got good advice from people on how to improve it. I’m definitely in the “Yes, it could have been better to lock in approval” but I’m also willing to say I think it should have been accepted as is. I looked through my (several) accepted bistros, cafes, ice cream parlors, and coffee shops and don’t see them as being much better than yours. I did include a bit more of a “personal touch” in the associated text.
I think my main photo I would have done something more like your Supporting photo - make it more square on and like a good advertisement. Since the Street View doesn’t match, I would have probably included more of the business facade or sidewalk area to help support location. I can’t think of anything different for your description. I like to say that the description should do the heavy lifting. I think, if anything, I’d mention it opening in 2022. A lot of places like this end up featured in local tourism websites or news channel fluff pieces. The only thing I could immediately find was Most Instagrammable Churros in Chicagoland Are Served in Lisle – NBC Chicago but the store website itself has a pretty nice description of the place.
I do make it clear, in most of my nominations… “encourages exploration of local flavors and culture.” Maybe for this, “sought out by people from all over for its unique take on the churro dessert, it’s a great place to socialize and explore a decadent confluence of culture and flavors.”
Read the site and reviews and you might get some inspiration. Remember to use your own words - don’t directly copy what you find.
I have submitted a few local places to eat and I dont always write a lot. I do know that often reviewers reject any kind of business for whatever reason - I disagree with their approach.
People here are just trying to help. No submission is ever really perfect, so there’s almost always a way to improve something, but it doesnt mean it was bad to start off with. Plenty of perfectly well presented eligible things get rejected sadly
Good luck if you try again, maybe it will make a power spot
