I know that American restaurant is in the tags but I have had several other restaurants like it be turned down for no apparent reason other than “generic business” which they aren’t lol. So just wondering what you guys think not trying to get my hopes up.
Questions…
Are they part of a (large) chain? Looking at Google there’s 3 I found straight away.
Is there a risk of it becoming a Sponsored Stop?
What do they offer that makes it stand out? I would expect them to have a dine in facility, but do they hold parties, functions, etc?
What makes this restaurant stand out compared to other nearby restarants?
I’m sure there’s more questions I can think of, but I would like to ask, but can’t think of them right now.
I only see one location for this: https://www.americantablewarsaw.com/
the tags have nothing to do with acceptance - “elementary school” is a tag.
This is the kind of unique family owned restaurant that I love as Wayspots, but they are very hard to get accepted. The one I submitted that seems most similar took five submissions and appeals of two of the rejections before I got it in.
If there is anything else you can add to make it more than just another place to get food, add it. This guide may help you:
Hotspot Nomination Guide

Keep in mind that you need to convince reviewers that it is a hotspot, not just expect them to take your word for it. Look for reviews and featured articles, outreach to the community, stuff like that.
AMERICAN TABLE FAMILY RESTAURANT, Perrysburg - Restaurant Reviews, Photos & Phone Number - Tripadvisor is one example.
The below image shows 3 difference ones that I found.
I used the term “american table restaurants usa” in our favourite search engine. These restaurants may be completely independant of each other, and haven’t looked into it closely.

I didn’t count any that added the word “Family” in since that is not on the sign, but good to bring up if you think others might. So we got the same hits. Definitely needs to focus that this is a unique restaurant in the nomination.
People like me may not know the difference between American Table and American Table Family, but that will be down to my ignorance. Which is why I had questions. If the OP described how this was an independant restaurant and what it offered (e.g. Buffets, Parties, etc), it may carry weight. I am nitpicking and am waiting for a bit of backlash.
questions
yes, ask them. if there is something that the op can address let them know now! if i sound like i am arguing with you i don’t mean to be. your statements are spot on what should be addressed. i am less help when i love a nomination.
I knew you weren’t arguing with me… I’m just having my usual stand offish moods today. I’ll be ok in a few days time…
It is an independent chain those others are not the same and have no connection. I tagged their website so you could read that and see that’s their only location. They have a buffet once a week but i don’t think it’s listed online. Why would a buffet make it unique anymore than a sit down dine in which it is both technically.
So is there anything I can do or?

Whilst buffets, dinner parties, etc are not unique to any one particular business, it may demonstrate that it’s a great place to socialise. I fell into the same trap with one of my nominations recently, and factored in that the restaurant local to me catered for parties, buffets, etc. And offered food that may appeal to a certain audience.
I could argue that McD’s, Subways, Wendy’s, Burger King, Five Guys, etc should be acceptable (putting to one side sponsorship deals that may or may not exist), but without compelling reasons / selling, it may be hard to support. (PS, please don’t recommend the restaurants I have suggested… it’s for illustration purposes only).
Regarding the independant side of things, you may want to sell that aspect in your nomination. I hope you can see the confusion I saw and thought it was part of a chain.
Sell the nomination like your life depends on it! Shakes fists
Do You think I should make the description longer? or just the supplemental information part?
Description lengths is subjective, so I’ll leave it to your discretion. But definitely mention that it is independent in the Description. In the supporting info, you have more creative license in being able to tell the reviewers as to why this is a great place to go to and enjoy the wares they offer.
I think this is more convincing. What does your description look like now?
Hmm… that could apply to a lot of restaurants. Can you tailor it to better describe them? Maybe someone else could help but I was thinking something like
Serving the Warsaw community since 1987, the Katris family offers breakfast all day, and other made from scratch American favorites for lunch and dinner. Known for their Famous Three-Egg Omelets, Half-Pound Burgers, and Bread Pudding dessert.
Feel free to use all or none of that, but that is kind of how I would write it.
Thank you this thread has been very helpful.
I’m never particularly happy with how first or second person wording comes off in restaurant nominations - just something about it is off putting.
Sometimes a well written supporting text makes it feel like all the info is already there - but recall that it’s the (photo and) Description that goes live in game and your first chance to make a good impression on reviewers. That’s where you really want to make most effort.
Besides the restaurant link, another recommendation I have is to look for city tourism websites - you know, the ones that write fluff pieces for local dining and “date night” or “family night” outings. Sometimes they have really good pieces on local dining establishments that you can reference or even just give you an idea on what to include. I’ve found some that reference obscure awards that are helpful to include.
Best of luck!
