Wrong wayspot location by mistake

Hello,

I am writing to respectfully appeal the decision regarding the alleged violation of Wayfarer Terms of Service. This decision was based on an unintentional mistake on my part.

At no point did I intend to violate Wayfarer guidelines or submit misleading or inappropriate content. I have always made my contributions in good faith, following the published criteria and aiming to improve the quality and accuracy of the Wayfarer database.

This is the email I received:

This is the submission:

This submission was entirely genuine; however, due to an unintended mistake during the submission process, the location was not specified correctly. All of my recent submissions were made at the same time from my relatives’ home, and in this specific case I unintentionally skipped the location adjustment step, leaving the default location provided by the submission page. This was an honest oversight, not an attempt to misrepresent the location or bypass Wayfarer guidelines.

You can verify this by reviewing my submission history, which shows multiple submissions made during the same period in the same area, including another one that corresponds to the same trail that was accepted.

In fact, as with the other submission, I also uploaded a 360° photo to Street View of the area to help ensure the location could be accurately identified and verified. This further reflects my intent to provide correct information and facilitate proper review of the submission.

The issue is that I did not realize the submission had been made incorrectly until it entered the voting phase and was already reviewed and resolved; otherwise, I would have withdrawn it or requested that it be corrected as soon as I became aware of the mistake.

For clarity, the correct location of this submission is at coordinates 43.14263945282131, -2.601455680225106. This is the actual and intended location of the point of interest, and it matches the area shown in the supporting materials provided.

I kindly ask that my case be reviewed again, taking into account my history of genuine participation and my willingness to fully comply with Wayfarer policies.

If you consider it appropriate, I would kindly appreciate the removal of the warning from my account history and, if possible, the correction of the submission’s location. At the moment, I am more than 10 kilometers away from the area, so I would not be able to resubmit it. Additionally, I had set myself the personal goal of maintaining a fully accepted submission history throughout 2026, and this situation was the result of an honest mistake rather than intentional misuse.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hello,

Have you followed the appeals process mentioned in the email?

Hopefully a member of the wayfarer team can be in touch about this.

The appeal process is for suspensions. My account is not suspended, I just want to clarify my situation an that my account remains clean.

If I have to do it, I will. I hope someone from the staff reads this and corrects my situation.

Thanks for the response

Hey @OhMaikGosh ,

Not necessarily.

I have looked into your case and we stand by our decision. In order to be fair to all players, we are unable to make any exceptions.

Thanks,

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I respectfully disagree that reconsidering this case would be “making an exception.” The facts show this was not fraudulent use of Wayfarer, but an honest mistake during the submission flow—specifically, an incorrect location left at the default setting.

Over the years I have submitted contributions in good faith and have 400+ accepted nominations, with no prior warnings or any history of fake or abusive submissions. My usual process is consistent and transparent: I go out walking, take photos of eligible candidates in the area, and later—often from home—submit multiple nominations within the 10 km range. In this particular situation, I submitted two batches on January 1 and January 5 (as shown in my submission history). All of them relate to the same area, and they were submitted from my relatives’ home using the web submission process. Without realizing it, one nomination was submitted with the wrong location because I did not adjust it and the page kept the default location.

Given my long-standing record and the clear context, I believe it is evident this was not intentional abuse or a fake submission attempt. I kindly ask that you review the case in depth, considering my overall submission history and the surrounding nominations—not only the single contribution in isolation.

I would also appreciate confirmation that this warning will not negatively affect my current Pokémon GO Ambassador status. I have never intended to submit anything fake, and it feels unfair for an unintentional mistake to be penalized the same way as deliberate abuse.

Thank you for your time and for taking another careful look.

Kind regards,

Let me initiate a DM and share further details.
