Other than the typo (turn instead of Turf) and placing the nomination on Astro Turfs, I am scratching my head as to why Niantic are reviewing this one….. But I will pray and hope….
I believe that reviews get pulled randomly, as well as when something has been lingering in community review for a long time. It’s nothing to be concerned about
Two internal reviews in quick succession is going to happen to people, just by statistical chance.
I don’t recall it happening to me before. Especially as I only submitted fewer than 5 on the day. So for me, it’s unusual.
Seems to be happening more and more. It is random, does kind of freak you out a bit.
Used to get 1 in 20 or 30, now it seems more like 1 in 10 or even less are getting grabbed.
I don’t have any real concern over the Niantic Reviews as such, but it does throw some doubt in my mind as to whether my subs are acceptable or not every time I see it. I can understand it if I subbed a lot in a day, but this is unusual for me. I’ll see how this one pans out.
Imagine it’s 1 in 10 that get grabbed for internal review.
If you submit 5 at the same time, the chances of 2+ getting picked up for internal review is about 10%. Statistically, that is within the standard deviation and not remotely interesting.
[I’m not sure I got that % correct, but it’s definitely not a statistically significant event]
I think I submitted between 20 to 30 (give or take) within 2 weeks. So I can understand Niantic periodically reviewing what has been submitted, but it took me by surprise when it happened the 2nd t ime around.
I understand completely, just trying to put your mind at ease using statistics ![]()
I was submitting loads last year and had TONS go to Niantic for review - I too was paranoid I was doing done thing wrong… but they approved every single one. I personally find I get a more favourable outcome from Niantic than the community a lot of the time, it just takes longer.

Agree that it does seem to be more as of late, and it also seems to be taking a bit longer than usual. My 1st web submission got pulled, but I wasn’t worried; it wasn’t on satellite view yet, but was on Street View (a little weird, but does happen). It was approved, no issues, and hopefully is in-game now.
So yes, nothing to freak out about.
It may be taking longer because there are more being pulled. I saw a comment elsewhere that there was some recent legal issue that means Niantic have to pull a certain percentage for internal review. I haven’t attempted to confirm this.
I didn’t see any reference to recent but fair point. I have been repeating what I have been told the legalese says and don’t have a link to where it says that. I won’t say that again without a link.
I wonder if @hankwolfman would have a link?
Assuming this was a rejection by the Niantic Staff, I am wondering if someone could explain how they determined that the photo was from a 3rd party source when I took it and how “Artificial turn Small Football pitches.” represents abuse, ridicule or harrassment of a specific person or group? Ok, I made a typo by calling it turn instead of turf, but where’s the abuse?
I wonder if this happened again:
But that shouldn’t happen
That is just how the “abuse” reason reads, and it was probably because of the 3rd party thing.
One of my biggest fears is when Niantic gets my sub into review they can see it as Abuse / 3rd party photo and I become a flagged party for future nominations, especially if I took the image myself. I don’t know if Niantic Staff have access to the Exif info on the image that was submitted. If they do, they will see that the phone that was used is the same phone that I have used for every image in the area and pretty much all my subs for the past few years.
Hi,
As a famous book once said “Don’t Panic”
Now that you have posted let’s wait and see what the team might say.
Where’s Captain Mannering from Dad’s Army when you need him!
I just checked… The Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy? And there I thought it was a Dad’s Army’s saying. ![]()
