In Singapore, HDB flats are managed by Town Councils.

Personally, I have not heard of any entity called HOA Property Management Company managing our neighbourhood. It should be the responsibility of the Town Council. I googled this company/organization but could not find any information.

There is no basis for the requester to geoblock our neighbourhood. The only possible explanation is the recent construction of flats, which could have triggered some authorities to make such a request. However, as mentioned earlier, this project was already completed in early 2024.

HOA means Home Owners’ Association. It’s an official group for each neighborhood (if they want one) to regulate how a neighborhood runs. A property management company or an owner’s cooperative board all do the same function. They manage any dues each owner must pay to maintain shared property, like a clubhouse or pool or playground. If its a building, they would cooperatively manage stairs/elevators, the entrances, basement, trash collection services, water service to the building, and the roof.

My HOA has just managed a project to repave our streets and replace our roofs.

Singapore does not have HOA.

If it wasn’t for what @NianticAaron had told you, then I would’ve suggested that the construction was the likely culprit. If the area was tagged as a construction site on Open Street Map when PokĂ©mon Go last updated their map data, that tagging would prevent spawns and PokĂ©stops from appearing in the tagged area. In that case, assuming the area is now no longer tagged as a construction site on OSM, you’d have to wait for another map update in the future (there’s no schedule for them) to remove the block caused by the construction site tag.

Like I said though, that’s not what @NianticAaron says has happened here, so there must’ve been someone in the local area who lodged a complaint at some point previously.

He may not use the same terms used there, but you know that you need to contact someone in charge to get this lifted. If you speak to someone with “property management” credentials, they should be able to request the geo-block be lifted. I usually tell people to google the form, because a lot of people don’t like to click on a link they were randomly given, but it is the form linked here:

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone! You guys have been extremely helpful.

I’m not sure if reaching out to our Town Council to request the geoblock to be lifted would help as I usually contact them for building maintenance issues. I don’t think they’d be familiar with what a geoblock is. :slight_smile:

I’ll use the form in the link above to contact the Wayfarer Help Center.

You won’t be able to request the link be lifted. It will need to be someone with authority. Whoever fills out the request will be asked for proof of credentials. There will be an email something like this;

It seems like my best option is to contact our Town Council. If the officers there aren’t familiar with how Wayfarer works, then I guess that’ll be a dead end since only the authorities have the power to lift this geoblock.

they may not know what it is, but you can explain the situation in detail and provide a step by step guide on what they would need to do if they wish to help.
