Cell is missing a Pokéstop, despite have two (technically, four) approved waypoints

Hi all,

One of the central locations in my area is devoid of Pokéstops, despite having two accepted wayspots in Ingress, and four total if you check Lightship.

The Pokéstop that used to be here was moved from this cell to an adjacent one last week, so I’m not sure if it’s just taking a while to update, or if something is screwy with the wayspots in this cell that makes them ineligible.

Any insights?

It is probable that the owner of that building asked for all Pokestops to be removed because they perceived they were causing problems.

Looks like geoblock by property owner.

Can that be confirmed in any way? This is a university campus, and the cell in question is just one half of a larger building that hosts several Pokéstops.

Having portal in ingress and nothing in pokemon go is enough proof i think. Only property owner can remove geoblock

Is there any way to confirm a geoblock? Because this is just one half of a building on a university campus. The other half has several pokestops, one of which just got approved and added last week.

Only niantic staff can confirm it. But seeing that there is nothing in pokemon go but ingress have portal is enough confirmation for me.

Respectfully, I’m a bit skeptical…the area in question is a highly trafficked thoroughfare for students, regardless of pokestops. It overlaps the main cafeteria and the outdoor campus walk. It seems unlikely that the university would geoblock this one specific cell when no other area on campus is blocked.

Only building owner can request geoblock because niantic will request certain lvl of creditential as prove of ownership. Perhaps at some point it was flooded by people so university request geo block.

Again, I am skeptical that the university would have requested a geoblock, as the area is flooded with students every day, regardless of the presence of pokestops. It’s a 53,000-student campus, and this is one of the main common areas.

Well ur option is either:

  1. Wait confirmation from niantic team,
  2. Accept its geoblock and move on, or
  3. Ask building owner

I dont see why that matters in why someone would request a geoblock or not.

I do actually remember someone noticing that there were no Wayspots at the college their child went to. When they asked about it, staff did confirm it was geoblocked per the college’s request. We kind of figured that the college admin wanted the students to focus more on their studies and other college activities than interacting with the games.

All we can do at this point is wait for staff to respond. They do monitor the forums, so they will let us know what the issue is with this area.

It likely is a geoblock for the reasons that have already been stated.

The only other thing I would ask is has this particular building been a construction site fairly recently?

I guess because it seems odd that out of the ~115 cells on campus containing Pokestops, the admin would request a geoblock on a single cell, but allow for new Pokestops to be added in the cells directly adjacent.

Well u can either wait for niantic confirmation, ask building owner, or move on
