3 Approved Contribution but not appearing in Pogo or any Niantic games

Hi, I have 2 approved contributions in late 2024 and 1 in 2021. But all 3 wayspots are not appearing in any of the current Niantic games. May I know if this area has been geoblocked by some individual?

This location has 2 wonderful children’s playground and several exercise spots for the residents around this area. I’m not sure if a geoblock has been applied on this entire area by mistake. Appreciate your help to verify.
Thank you.

If these are three different nominations, those pins being so close to each other indicate that these are probably not all eligible to appear in Pokemon Go or Ingress.

Ingress has a 20m rule, and Pokemon Go only allows one Wayspot per level 17 S2 cell to appear.

But if this is the right general area, it does appear there is some kind of Geo-Block there as at least one should appear there:

The red pin in this snip is at 1.321324273331552, 103.90008571388155

Like cyndie above me has said. It seem like there is a geo-blocked for the Blk 3 HBD, as I can see that the Blk 2 HBD has wayspots appearing in-game.

If that is true, any approved nominations wouldn’t be showing up in any games.

Thank you. May I know how do I request this geoblock to be removed?

The request would need to come from the building property owner or authorised stakeholder.

This area is a housing estate with several interesting spots such as children’s playground and neighbourhood exercise corners. I am one of the many owners of this estate. Sorry, I am new to this but is it true that anyone can geoblock an area? For example, we have many legit Pokemon Go players in this area but all it takes is one individual to submit a geoblock request and the system will deny the entire community the access to a pokestop?

The request has to come from the property owner, and they must provide some sort of verification of such.

Thanks a lot. I’m one of the property owner. So I write to Niantic directly? Any links or email I can use?

I can’t really help much with this subject, it’s not something I’ve ever personally done. My comment was really just meant to point out that random people can’t request a geoblock, it has to be requested by the property owner, and Niantic requires some sort of proof that you are who you are claiming to be.

If you own the property that the Wayspot is located on, you could try the link for Wayspot Removals at the top of the page: Reporting a Wayspot — Wayfarer Help Center. It says removals, but I would think they might be able to help you if you explain what you actually want.

I am not an expert on these situations, either, and property owner request is the usual reason I see for a geo-block, but I do think there could be other reasons. I would wait for staff to answer back and see if they can give you the reason these are not showing.

Thanks, guys :folded_hands:

In your case, if a geoblock has been requested I believe it would have likely come from an official representative for the entire housing estate rather than any individual property owner.

However, as mentioned above only Niantic will be able to confirm whether a geoblock is in place.

I’m not sure how HBD management works in Singapore. Do you have official management of the building? The one that do repair and maintenance of the complex.

It could be the official management that request the block.

Since my understanding that HBD is subsidized by government, it might be through that official channel the geo-blocked request comes from.

But I don’t think it’s from 1 of individual owner of the unit that request it. Niantic will ask for lots of supporting info on such a request, so seeing that the whole area is an apartment complex, I don’t think they would approved geo-blocked from 1 individual owner of the unit.

Thanks for clarifying that geoblocking an area follows a strict process set by Niantic and isn’t done arbitrarily by individuals trying to disrupt gameplay.

This neighborhood is similar to adjacent ones where PokéStops are present, so it’s unlikely that any government officials would specifically request a geoblock here.

I’m curious whether this is an actual geoblock or if there’s an issue with the Level 17 S2 cell in this area.

I’m pretty sure it is not due to Level 17 S2 cells in that particular area.

Ingress doesn’t follow cell rules, as long as it was 20mtr distance between existing wayspot, it should appear in Ingress, but it is not the case.

My guess the geo-blocked is for all Niantic games.

I encounter a geo-blocked in Japan only for PGO games, but still showing up for Ingress (I play both game, so I notice it).

In this case it seem both PGO and Ingress encounter the geo-blocked for that area.

Come to think of it, additional housing blocks have been under construction nearby for the past 3–4 years. I’m not sure if this construction contributed to the geoblock. However, it was completed in early 2024.

How can I inform Niantic that the construction has ended and request the removal of the geoblock?

You can try through Reporting a Wayspot — Wayfarer Help Center

And fill out the form. Would be better if you can provide proof that the construction has finished. Such as link to news that confirm the completion of construction.

However please remember that the construction problem is only your own speculation, there is no guarantee that it is why the geo-blocked in place.

Good luck.

@NianticAaron I know you will sometimes let us know what is going on in situations like this. Could you please let us know if there is a geo-block or other issue going on with this location, and what @likefunyouare can do going forward?

There is indeed a restriction at the location requested by the property owner.

Thank you for confirming the geoblock, @NianticAaron. Are you able to disclose the reason? This area is just a typical neighbourhood without schools or anything that is unsafe for players to hang around.
