30 day suspension

Hi! Sorry for my poor English.

I just received my second strike for requesting a waypoint in the same area. D

I’m not the first player in our group to receive such a ban for requesting this area. In my case, I’ts the second, with the corresponding 30-day penalty.

The coordinates that appear in my request are (41.227626, 1.523272)

The item I have requested is a bus station equipped with several municipal notice boards, located in a small square.

Now, looking at the coordinates, it’s shifted from its actual position! I remember placing it where the GPS indicated it was. Can a low-coverage area affect a position that much?

Hello and welcome @Blackgoat95

First you are welcome to post in the language you feel most comfortable writing in as there are translation tools available to forum users.
Often a member of the wayfarer team will reply by forum DM with further details.
You can discuss with the community too.

Is this the wayspot submission that has been given in the emails about the suspension, and did the suspension say specifically about placing it at the wrong location?
I ask because a bus stop such as your photo would not be expected to be eligible.

It is the submitters responsibility to ensure the nomination is pinned at the correct location. What steps did you take to try and ensure it was accurate.

When you nominate wayspot, you need move to wayspot pin manually at exact position. Once it set, it wont change. Most common mistake is by not changing predermined location from where you take foto because where you take foto is not the same as wayspot location.

Having looked at the location, this appears to be an individual bus stop (which are not usually eligible), as opposed to a bus station (a terminus where multiple different routes depart from, which is eligible as a transport hub).

Yes! Here is the email:
Sin título
And the resquest email:

I’ve seen many bus stations converted into wayspots, either larger or just posts with bus timetables. I thought they were eligible.

Regarding how I ensure they are in the correct position, I usually stand as close as possible to the object I am requesting and request them based on my location.

This is not a good way to pin location. You need to recheck satelite and/or street view to ensure the pin is in correct location.

Hello, I’m really sorry to hear that you’re going through this.
Mobile devices pinpoint your exact location using signals received from multiple cellular base stations. However, when the signal is weak, the device has to rely solely on GPS satellites to determine your location. In such cases, large errors of over 10 meters can easily occur.
That being said, even in those situations, a satellite photo is displayed first when submitting a Wayspot, and you are required to place the pin in the correct position. You must never skip this step, and since you had already received a prior warning, you should have proceeded with much more caution.
Bus shelters are installed to protect people waiting for the bus from the rain, wind, and sunlight. They are not meant to be a gathering place for friends or neighbors to socialize. Because of this, most bus stop shelters do not meet the eligibility criteria.
However, you mentioned that there are municipal notice boards at that bus stop. If the announcements on those boards are used to promote social activities or community engagement, it might actually meet the criteria. Even so, the submitted location must not be inaccurate.

Hey,

I see that you have located the email sharing the details. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Best,

When you submit nominations, you should not lie. A bus stop is not a refuge.

Lying can also get you banned

I’d like to know more details, honestly… For a couple of reasons. One is what I mentioned: I’m not the first player to get banned in this area of town. I’m wondering if it could be someone we had problems with playing Pokémon Go regarding gyms who’s reporting us. On the other hand, I want to know if there’s anything I can do besides appeal to have the ban removed or its dates changed. For personal reasons, I’ll accept the ban; I have no problem with it. I’ve been careless with my positioning, but as I said, I haven’t had any problems with this placement method in several years.

We have a very dynamic system in place to identify and act against abuse. So, this is totally possible.

Players do not get to know the submitter of a nomination. They can only report abuse if they believe there is one. The report is then reviewed by our team and acted on if needed.

No, there is nothing else that can be done. We take the accuracy of our database very seriously and have zero tolerance for any type of abuse.

Thanks,

Players do not get to know the submitter of a nomination. It’s true, but you know where is the wayspot from, with that in mind you can report it as abuse to injury other players of that town, correct?

Regarding the appeal, you can assume it has been rejected and there’s nothing more to discuss, is that also correct?

These reports are reviewed by our team and we take actions based on evidence.

That’s correct.

For my safety, the only thing I can do is wait for the ban to end. And then, from what I’ve read, I shouldn’t have any problems for a year to clear my account? Is that a year from the start of the ban or from when it ends?

As a word of advice, it sounds like the people in this area need to get a better understanding of how Wayfarer works and what is important about making Wayspots. If they are all submitting things without paying attention to the accuracy of the details, then the area may be under scrutiny by someone who understands the system. As Aaron stated above, Niantic only takes action when there is proof of problems with Wayspots. And they don’t always agree with the opinion of people who report things, trust me.

Doesn’t refugio mean shelter, which this is? Since it protects against rain and stuff?

In the UK a bus stop with a roof is often called a bus shelter. It’s just a word for a bus stop where you don’t get rained on. It is not a refuge and not a shelter beyond that purpose (or for playing Pogo when it’s raining…)

Submitting a UK bus stop as a shelter would be devious.

Well yes but it’s not like they’re technically lying calling it a shelter

IMO: You are both correct.

In the real world there is a difference but a “Bus Shelter” is still a “Bus Stop”. Both would not meet criteria unless there was something else that made it “special”.

Maybe a translation issue but the OP did call it a “bus station” which (definitely in the UK) is
something different.

The problem was the location so whatever you call it the location error trumps it anyway

Lying comes in many forms. Lying by omission. Lying by implication (implying something without explicitly saying it).
