This is my first time posting - I hope I make sense & if this is even valid questions/critic.
I live in an area with very few active hotspots—usually only 2–3 small groupings, with miles between them.
I’ve been actively submitting wayspots to improve a local park that already has a handful of Pokestops, but only 2 Gyms. The park is currently undergoing renovations and adding new amenities, so I’m hoping to help make it a more active and engaging location for players. The local Campfire groups in my area tend to rotate between 2 main spots, which feel a bit lacking in my opinion—so having more options would help keep things fresh for group play.
The issue is that recently, I’ve had multiple nominations approved, but none of them have appeared in Pokémon GO. I’ve even used upgrades on some of them, which makes it feel like a waste since there was nothing to gain from the approval.
I currently have another nomination in appeals (my 6th), but based on previous results, I’m not confident it will appear in-game even if approved.
What determines whether an approved Wayspot gets added to PoGo? Are there spacing or S2 cell rules that might be preventing them from appearing?
Also, does submitting directly through PoGo have any influence on whether a Wayspot shows up in-game?
I’ve included a snippit from the Wayfarer map & circled the newly approved Wayspots that don’t appear in-game.
I’m not very familiar with how to check S2 cells or how they affect placement.
I’d appreciate help understanding whether these locations fall into the same cell or otherwise conflict with placement rules.
Share your wisdom & experience with this slowpoke lol
Let’s talk about the 2 side by side first.
The one circled in yellow is a duplicate of the one the arrow is pointing to. Basketball courts. It should never have been accepted. @NianticAaron or someone on his team needs to merge it with the existing wayspot. The one circled in pink is fine and should show up when sync is working again. (BTW, I’m hearing some reports that sync is back…)
As for these 2, they are in the same cell. One of them should show up, but not both.
Additionally, this yellow boxed wayspot is very misplaced. It’s for Field 1, which I assume is the field all the way to the right. You can’t move it within PGO, but you can use the Help chat bubble within Wayfarer to move it to the right spot. The wayspot that is a pink circle is misplaced but I can’t tell where it belongs. It’s a mural, so it might belong on the building to the right. But you will need to provide proof to the Wayfarer Help chat to get it corrected.
I think these 2 yellow squares are some kind of playing fields. They would be added to PGO if you nominated them.
Yeah I believe for this one - I submitted from within PoGo & then later checked on the map to see the duplicate. I only learned that later. I had submitted because the whole court top & hoops had been re-done. I just figured no one ever thought to nominate. At the time I didn’t realize there had been an update map feature within wayfarer which I plan to use to confirm.
I am curious of how you are able to view the cell borders & the radius?
I appreciate the effort in assisting w/ further nominations - thats more helpful than you know. Extremely grateful of your suggestions!
I’ll have to double check this one. Its either misplaced or no longer there. I’m having issues recalling this exact spot as I have never given it much thought.
Yes sync is back, my two wayspots were synced in few hours ago.
Yeah I got curious so I went off & 2 are now on the map. The Niantic map still says not in game but I can see them here I PoGo lol - wasn’t are of the sync issue but it’s nice to know it’s back in the groove of things. I appreciate the heads up!
Yeah, niantic wayfarer is not updated yet, but the sync issue was fixed earlier today, they rolled out an update for the game itself, for fixing the bugs.
Wayfarer will be updated soon at this pace.
