Hello everyone,
I have submitted two different Wayspots.
1st Wayspot Coordinates:
41.080725, 28.994785
2nd Wayspot Coordinates:
41.080539, 28.994421
The 1st Wayspot was approved earlier than the 2nd one.
However, only the 2nd Wayspot appeared in Pokémon GO.
Both are visible as approved in Wayfarer, but the first one is not appearing in-game.
Could you please check if this is related to S2 cell rules or if there is another reason why the first approved Wayspot did not sync to Pokémon GO?
Thank you.

Hello,
Unfortunately the observed selection rules for what appears in game are that only 1 wayspot can be selected to appear in Pokémon Go in what is known as a S2 level 17 cell ( green box in the screenshot)
This article explains https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/
Both of yours are in the one box.
Would I be correct to assume that both were approved over the past few days?
There was a pause in the sync that takes place between the wayfarer database and the game. I assume both of these were then equally in the database when the sync happened and it selected the one that happened to be approved second.
It will stay this way.
I hope this explains the situation.

Thank you again for the explanation regarding the S2 Level 17 cell rule.
I would like to ask a follow-up question.
If one of the Wayspots has a slightly inaccurate location, and a location edit moves it into a different Level 17 S2 cell (reflecting its real-world position), would both Wayspots then be able to appear in Pokémon GO?
I want to be clear that I am only asking in the case of a genuine location correction, not to bypass the cell rule.
Thank you for your clarification.

If a location edit to place a wayspot in the correct location happens to place it in an empty cell then it would appear.
This can be done using the help chat bubble to present the wrong location a suggested new location plus evidence eg geotagged photos. The staff will then determine the correct location.
They may decide that the current location is correct and won’t move it to an “more correct” place.
It’s also possible for staff to choose a different location, if the current location is inaccurate but they see a better location than you have suggested.
Thank you for the clarification.
Just to confirm: even if a Wayspot does not appear in Pokémon GO due to S2 cell rules, it still exists in the Lightship database and the 20-meter minimum distance rule still applies, correct?
So if I submit a new nomination within 20 meters of that invisible Wayspot, it would be automatically rejected as too close?
Thanks again for your help.

There is no 20 metre rule for Wayfarer. That was only used by Ingress (and is still used by Ingress) to choose whether a wayspot appears as a portal. Years ago, it was also used to decide whether a wayspot would even be added to the database, but that is definitely not a restriction now.
There is no 20m. It used to be the case many years ago when ingress inclusion rules were applied first. Since it changed to just having to meet Pokémon go rules as long as an invisible cell line is between them 2 valid wayspots can be millimetres apart.
It would appear if a wayspot is at least 22m from a pokestop/gym it can be selected to be a Powerspot. That distance is represented by the black ring around the pin on my screenshot.
So how can I contact these staff members and explain the situation?
In response to your other message;
Then I can add a new PokéStop right next to the one that isn’t visible in the game, right? Because there are other things there that could be PokéStops.
If it’s a play area then there should be one spot to represent that play area.
If there are picnic tables or exercise quipment for example they would be fine.
Each wayspot is evaluated separately. If two distinct objects are very close together, they can both be wayspots. Pokemon Go will then choose which wayspots to use.
However, the objects do need to be distinct in the way that wayfarer applies the term. Different pieces of equipment in a playground are not distinct. A line of ten benches is not 10 distinct items. And so on.

There are fitness equipment in the park. I think this is a suitable candidate.

Items of fitness equipment in one area is one wayspot. However, when they are individual items scattered along a route, they can be submitted separately.
One really obvious example.
This can only be single wayspot - multiple items of equipment in a single space:
Thank you very much for your answers. They were all very helpful.

Final technical detail - the name Lightship is no longer used in the Wayfarer world. I don’t know if the Ingress side kept that name or if it just sank into oblivion.
The Lightship program is being deprecated and merged in to Scaniverse. See link below.

An example on the “separate items” direction: I have two approved pokestops that are separate murals, on separate walls, with separate themes, but located in the same restaurant. Grid line halfway across the room.
