A big tree as a pokestop

Hi, I’m trying to do a pokestop where there is a super big tree, a secuoia giganteum of more than 40metres. The tree it’s super beautiful and can be watched from very far away. It’s inside a park with grass and other trees and a river. Why is the reason they ban my proposal? It could be a map thing? Cause from aerial view Iits just a green circle, obviously so… any light about this? Thanks!

I’m adding the image

What makes this a great place to exercise, socialize, or explore?

Please note that you are not nominating stops/gyms for PoGo, but Wayspots for the Lightship map. Each Niantic game uses the Lightship map to determine game play locations, based on each game’s density rules.

Trees, by themselves, are not eligible. What may make them eligible is if they have a plaque of sign that educates people about the species of tree, or one that notes it was planted to commemorate a notable occasion for the community, such as a city’s centennial.

This tree is ineligible, even if it’s a nice piece of landscaping; landscaping in general is also ineligible. I could nominate the large rocks in front of my apartment building, but they’re just rocks used for landscaping purposes, and aren’t special. Many other buildings have rocks, bushes, and trees to liven up the area, so they are seen a pretty generic and not distinct.

Well in my country trees are important, and there is no more than a hundred secuoias in the whole country. Rocks are billions of billions.

A park sounds eligible, but a specific tree in a park doesn’t sound like a good anchor, nor like a great place to walk, run, or bike.

NvlblNm asked you the main questions for criteria. That was a great question, and this is THE question that would help you try to submit this.

I have seen one tree I can think of that was successfully submitted with no sign. The tree itself had a story surrounding it.

Well it’s what people do in this park, also dogs and kids playing. So if people use it for that it’s cause is good place to do it…

Cool, sounds like you should nominate the park, not the tree.

I did it too, not as a park but a forest.

Well the question is answered. About history…more than a random graffiti for sure and more important…I will think about how to rename it.

I think trees are important all around the world, but not all are eligible; most are ineligible as they are pretty much everywhere.

Yeah that’s why secuoias are the tallest trees on earth…

It might be worth reviewing the eligibility criteria to better understand what the others are suggesting.

Put everything you can think of that answers this in your nomination. Put links to prove what you are saying in the supporting. If this is a named tree, include that. Anything that convinces that this specific tree is a destination.

I have done…congrats for your creativity.

Ok thanks!

Really no need to be hostile. Everyone here is just trying to help, which it seems you wanted since you were confused why your nomination wasn’t accepted.

@agueau Hello and welcome

I’m going to move this over to nomination support.
I appreciate it feels disheartening when something you have worked on gets rejected.
However we are willing to try and help you find a way to identify places that stand a good chance of being accepted.
If you would be willing to share the location we can have a look around using google and ask you about places and hopefully help you to get some sucessful nominations.
As others have said the park should be acceptable if it is put across in the best way. Just because something is rejected doesn’t stop you from having another go.

That’s not the reality.

Yeah, thanks! I will try another way to.
