A pokestop near me was removed, is there a way to figure out why?

I can’t seem to find a place to ask on Wayferer so hoping someone can point me in the right direction. There was a pokestop at a local park that was there just a few days ago and it suddenly disappeared, but it doesn’t make sense why. The location is still there in real life and its in an easily accessed location (its a park entrance). Is there a place to go to figure out why?

Hello and Welcome,

There is multiple reasons so we can only guess.

Are there other stops / gyms in the park? (could be removed by property owner request).

It could be that it was reported for reasons that meant it shouldn’t have appeared in the 1st place (park entrance doesn’t sound likely).

If you are happy to supply the Location it might gives us more of an idea.

Can you leave more information about the location and what the pokestop represented? You can click on Google Maps to get approximate gps coordinates, or give an address.

There is a category here to appeal removals: Wayspot Appeals

If you start a topic there, it will prompt you for information they need.

Since you have begun a topic here, you can just reply to the requests we have made for more information. A mod will be able to move this to that category if it seems appropriate. Please note that neither of us who have responded are staff, just forum members trying to help.

A couple more things I can think of off the top of my head that might cause this that haven’t been mentioned yet are a location edit that moved the Wayspot to where it isn’t eligible to be a Pokestop anymore, or a report that it is a duplicate of another Wayspot.

There are other stops at the park and then one spot I submitted that was accepted, but doesn’t appear as a pokestop (likely too close to other stop?). The address is 17203 NE 84th Cir, Vancouver, WA 98682, USA . The one that was removed is the " Si-Ellen Park East Entrance". It is a new park so a lot of it doesn’t show in google maps yet, but there is a google maps location for it.

Also, not sure if this helps, but I’ve recently been made part of the board of directors for the neighborhood HOA. We love having the pokestops for our park since it gets more neighbors in the community to visit with each other so I know none of the board requested the stop taken down.

I don’t see one for the entrance, so it looks like it has been completely removed. All the Wayspots there are in the same L17 S2 cell, so only one should be showing in Pokemon Go.

I see these Wayspots
Si Ellen Basketball Court
Si Ellen Park Picnic Table
Si Ellen Community Playground
Si Ellen Pickleball Court

Could the entrance location have bothered a homeowner?

There are no homeowners on the lot closest to the pokestop yet. It’s currently an empty lot across the street.

This spot was more east to that cell. The Coordinates are probably closer to 45.683602, -122.495814 (give or take a bit).
You can see from one of the builders sites has the park “map” https://www.newtraditionhomes.com/communities/vancouver-area/vancouver/si-ellen-farms#siteplan
It’s also here (circled the entrance that it was):

I flagged this to ask for it to be moved to Wayspot Appeals. The builder’s map helps the case if it was reported for removal as not existing. Together with the photos on Google Maps, I am convinced that it exists, and is an amenity for the neighborhood if it was removed for being on Single Family Private Residential Property. I hope staff will agree. If they need more evidence, they will ask.

Thank you! Appreciate it!

Thanks for the appeal, @ThisLAdy! After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to restore the Wayspot in question.
