So I just had this title edit rejected this afternoon. This wasn’t an ML reject, despite the email saying “our team.” (It was submitted October 23, so a bit over 2 weeks at this point, and I’m fairly certain I saw the in-house Niantic review status on my contributions page.)
I’m stumped on how they decided that my edit wasn’t better than the existing title; the only way I can think that the current one could be more generic is if it was simply titled “marina” or “sign.” Is my title super unique and creative? No. But it’s the name of the place. It’s exactly what’s on the sign. All 4 pictures on the portal show the sign clearly, with easily readable text. Did the Niantic reviewer even look at the current info on the Wayspot?
I haven’t appealed an edit rejection yet, but I’m tempted to appeal this one since I can’t resubmit (I live too far away) and I feel very strongly that they were wrong in this case. Should I send screenshots of the existing portal photos as proof? I don’t have my own photo of the sign, but I’ll look for links to verify as well.
Edit: OMG I just noticed my typo! Guess I won’t appeal! I still think it’s better even with a typo though!
