Perplexing Niantic Title Edit Rejection

So I just had this title edit rejected this afternoon. This wasn’t an ML reject, despite the email saying “our team.” (It was submitted October 23, so a bit over 2 weeks at this point, and I’m fairly certain I saw the in-house Niantic review status on my contributions page.)

I’m stumped on how they decided that my edit wasn’t better than the existing title; the only way I can think that the current one could be more generic is if it was simply titled “marina” or “sign.” Is my title super unique and creative? No. But it’s the name of the place. It’s exactly what’s on the sign. All 4 pictures on the portal show the sign clearly, with easily readable text. Did the Niantic reviewer even look at the current info on the Wayspot?

I haven’t appealed an edit rejection yet, but I’m tempted to appeal this one since I can’t resubmit (I live too far away) and I feel very strongly that they were wrong in this case. Should I send screenshots of the existing portal photos as proof? :joy: I don’t have my own photo of the sign, but I’ll look for links to verify as well.

Edit: OMG I just noticed my typo! :rofl: Guess I won’t appeal! I still think it’s better even with a typo though!

I didn’t until I looked over my post here with the photos included.

Just goes to show you how blind you can be to errors in your own submissions!

Well, ML has accepted typos of mine in description edits before. I’m actually waiting to see if the correct spelling gets approved by the community with the challenge going on.

I feel this situation 100%. I once had a super quick ML rejection and was so confused…then I realized I put “Thunder Strike” instead of “Thunder Striker” in the title and description :man_facepalming: easy fix and resubmit but still plenty frustrating when you do it lol. Wish you luck on the new edit!

It Happens to the best of us @mattiec741 actually when we are out exploring,In my case holding my device and typing and looking at description info on a sign.

Sometimes my hand cramps or aches & other times they are just cold as I have to take my gloves off to type. :sweat_smile::cold_face::sneezing_face:
