About making waystops in my village, Im looking for help with it

Long time ago, I passed level 37, and Im just back in game after while so I wanted to improve the playing conditions for myself and my friends in the area. Unfortunately, the closest Pokéstop is about 2 km from my house, theres also two Max Battle Arenas. Unfortunately, I don’t go there often or for long because its the church area. Maybe 200m meters away, there’s another Pokéstop and a gym. So, in a 5 km radius, I have two Pokéstops and one gym.

I’d really like to change this by nominating more interesting places to stop along the way. So I came up with the idea of nominating roadside shrines. However, one of them has already been rejected, and I received a warning probably beacause its located behind a fence, which is really discouraging because people really gathers here for prayers, or just to take pictures of it.

I’d be very grateful if anyone could suggest what I could nominate in my village. I’ve made a list of things that i found but im not sure of them, please let me know if any of them would be approved. Some might sounds obviously bad but I really wanna be sure because i already saw things like supermarkets and painting in museum as POI’s.

Solar farm.
Artificial lake, but its far away from main road and road there is made from dirt.
Oak tree as a natural monument, but without a plate saying it.
Roadside shrines, theres, theres maybe 3 thats not behing fence.
Ruins of an old house.
Old well.
Notice board.
Fire station with a village community center.
Abandoned vacant building.
Post office, but not whole building its inside small shop.
The yard next to shop, also fenced but with benches and anyone can for example just eat there.
Bench surrounded by trees, only this but its nice to just sit there in sunny days.
Bridge over a river with a sidewalk on both sides.

A roadside shrine could be eligible if it has safe pedestrian access and isn’t at someone’s house. Can you share the details of the nomination?

A post office in a shop should be eligible, as should a community noticeboard and community centre, although you said its at a fire station - would want to know more about the set-up there…

The yard at the shop where people eat, is that a picnic area ie benches available for people to eat? If so then that could be eligible, but not if it’s not a proper seating area

The old well could be interesting, if its on public land it sounds like it could be a bit of a local landmark.

If you haven’t read this post yet, here are lots of suggestions: Tips for Rural Nominators

You need to understand the acceptance criteria. This is a good place to start: Wayspot Criteria — Wayfarer Help Center

Basically, if you can make a good case that it meets any of the core criteria of a great place for exercise, exploration, or being social, AND if it doesn’t meet any of the rejection criteria, then you can try to submit it.

I would also pick up on your comment about supermarkets… I have nominated several community noticeboards at supermarkets and had them accepted, so things at supermarkets can be eligible even though the supermarket itself is likely a generic business that meets no criteria.

With paintings in museums, unique art can be a really good nominatjon, whether thats at a museum, business, mural, apartment building, or really anywhere that isnt a single family home.

Thanks for help.
In case of mine nomination, if I applied photo from street view to prove its near road its a instant denied? If it is theres no meaning to show till I make new nomination://

And that well also look very poor here it is

Im kinda scary to nominate simple stuff like any notice boards because of that warning:// im not ready to get even temporary ban with 6 years old account

The simple stuff can often be best to be honest.

Can you share the warning? Did I read it right that you used a picture from google to submit it? That would probably be the issue.

Eh now that im checking it, warning was for fake submissions. I was testing and didnt know i cant delete them heh, also didnt know its affect my account ingame.

Shrine one was denied by community…

You can’t delete a mistake nomination, but you can “withdraw” it from the edit menu in your contributions page if it hasn’t gone into voting. If you find an error after it has reached the voting stage, you can reach out to help chat at https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/help and ask them to reject it for you.

If this shrine is on single family private residential property, it is not eligible. That is not just because it is behind a fence. Private Residences, Farmland & K-12

Solar farm.
Every wayspot has to be at least one of the following: a good place to explore, a good place to exercise or a good place to socialise. A solar farm is none of those sadly.

Artificial lake, but its far away from main road and road there is made from dirt.
This might make a good criteria for exploration, but lakes can be hard to get accepted. If there’s a sign near the lake that might make a good nomination, especially if it’s a place name or nature sign, not if it’s a warning sign.

Oak tree as a natural monument, but without a plate saying it.
Theoretically acceptable but I’ve never seen a tree by itself as a wayspot.

Roadside shrines, theres, theres maybe 3 thats not behing fence.
Yes, potentially acceptable. Some of these are a bit temporary looking, so not guaranteed. If it’s been there for a long time then point people towards StreetView if available.

Ruins of an old house.
No, because it’s likely still private property and also possibly unsafe.

Old well.
That concrete thing you photographed is just infrastructure. But if it was something older then perhaps that could qualify under exploration.

Notice board.
Yes, these are usually good nominations.

Fire station with a village community center.
A community center is a really good nomination, a fire station is a bad one. You need to place the pin for the community center as far away from the fire station as possible, else it might interfere with emergency operations.

Abandoned vacant building.
Like the ruins of the house, probably not. It does depend on what type of building it is and if it has some interest. So, and old commercial building might be eligible if it has some history (bakery, blacksmiths etc). You shouldn’t submit anything that’s potentially dangerous.

Post office, but not whole building its inside small shop.
Yes, I have found these to be highly eligible.

The yard next to shop, also fenced but with benches and anyone can for example just eat there.
As said elsewhere, this sounds promising. You might need to stress it as a place to be social. Remember, not to include any people in your main photo.

Bench surrounded by trees, only this but its nice to just sit there in sunny days.
Probably not, but maybe. A lot of it will come down to how you “sell” the wayspot to reviewers.

Bridge over a river with a sidewalk on both sides.
Bridges vary a lot, some are plain infrastructure while others are historically interesting. If the bridge has some history then stress that, a good photo helps. Here are a couple I did recently:

Trail markers can be a great thing, named walking or biking trails are best. These might be further out from the village but are often easy to get accepted.

I find a lot of interesting things looking a local histories of villages, that can tell you what the buildings used to be and point you towards features that you’d never noticed before but which are interesting. If you can find a good online reference to support your wayspot then you can include it in the supporting text.

I have 6 submissions and 4 has been approved and only 2 of them showed on pokemon go since the other 2 i think is close to other wayspots. My 1st unapproved nomination was my first nomination and it has a bad quality photo my 2nd unapproved nomination was a mural inside a local restaurant ad was not approved because the location is new and isn’t visible in google street view so there’s no way to confirm it so i resubmit it with a collage of supporting photo (that it is legit) i also corrected the name and add the name of the artist who painted it in the description and even their instagram link and it got approved. My other nominations are easily approved since one is a mural inside a church, one is a tennis court and one is a giant statue of a dessert.
