Accepted Pokestops aren’t appearing

Hi everyone!

I’ve had 4 of my pokestop nominations accepted into the game. The issue I’m currently having is that only two of them are showing in game. Both of the stops that are visible ingame are each close to the pokestops that aren’t showing. What I mean is that both of the stops in game are close to the invisible ones yet far from each other, and I’m worried that they being categorized as duplicates because of that. We are in desperate need of more pokestops and gyms in my area and I really hope all 4 could show up in game.

If you guys can assist in anyway it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! Please see if this topic helps, then ask if you still have questions: Why an accepted Wayspot may not be used in Pokemon Go (S2 cells and Pokemon Go)

Thanks for the tip. I did read the article before I posted this. I was hoping that somehow my nominations would get the ”Japan treatment” where multiple Pokestops are literally so close to each other you could consider them being one. It is very hard to play the game in my area without being looked at in a weird way. It would be super handy for most of the players close to me if we got some Pokestops/gyms close to our homes as that is the safest way to play the game unfortunately.

pokestops can be side by side across that invisible cell line and all smushed together in the four corners where the cells come together. so looks can be deceiving. also, sponsored stops do not have to follow cell rules. there did used to be a way to force multiple things into the same L17 S2 cell, but that loophole has been stopped.

Quick map to show what @cyndiepooh means with the 4 corners making it look like they are more than there should be…

The wayspot can be anywhere in the cell, if 4 cells happen to have waypoints in the corners they can be literally inches apart as long as they are in the next cell…

Is there a way for me to check this out? I would like to see where the grid lays in my area.

Thanks in advance

The only reliable way is using Ingress Intel. If you don’t have an Ingress account, then an image could be dropped in here for you if you provide the location you want it centred on.

Example: 53.619422, 1.932139

If you could help me with these coordinates I would appreciate it: 59.246632, 17.809793

If you could include the building on your right that would be perfect.

Thanks in advance

Below is the entirety of the L14 cell containing those co-ordinates. Currently, you appear to have 17 pokestops/gyms, so three more pokestops would create a third gym. Please note that the pokestop/gym location is accurate for May 2025, but new ones could have been added that are not showing on this map. Imported powerspots do not show on this map as they are not part of Ingress.

When objects have a very specific location, such as fitness equipment, picnic shelters, then you don’t have much choice where to put the pin, so the cells (re proximity rules for Pogo) don’t really matter. if it doesn’t become a pokestop, it may become a powerstop. Don’t put the pin in the wrong location just to make the wayspot appear in Pokemon Go - this is abuse, and risks a warning and a strike.

When objects have a choice of location, such as a playground set, then knowing the cells can make a difference if you want a pokestop rather than a powerstop (or the other way round!), as you can choose where to put the pin when nominating and there is a legitimate choice of positions.

What you can’t do is try to move things after they are accepted in order to make them appear as a pokestop, if they are already in a good location and you are just moving them to a just-as-good location. People do that when they know about the cells and the proximity rules and are trying to tweak the gameboard.

This is a closer view of the area around the location given

I appreciate the the help. I’ll do what you said. Keep the ones that are good as there isn’t a point in moving them and just focus on getting more Pokestops where possible.

Thanks again for the help

Following up on this, remember the cell rules are worldwide and Japan (or anywhere else) doesn’t get preferential treatment. That being said, there are a lot of sponsored stops in Japan. A lot of times, sponsored stops don’t follow the normal inclusion rules for normal POI’s. So looking at a social media post, it may appear that the area is getting something they shouldn’t.

Think “Starbucks” or McDonald’s in the US can be located in a cell with an existing POI. That is normal behavior. It’s a great question though, that hasn’t been asked in a hot minute.
