Approved Pokestop not showing in Pokemon Go game

It’s been a couple of days since my Pokestops nominations have been approved

Any updates on how long will it take to appear in game?

Welcome to the forum @AmethystFoxx

To copy the wise words of @cyndiepooh:

I know the prompt tells you that you are submitting a “Pokestop” but you are actually submitting a Wayspot to the database. The Wayspot can only become a Pokestop or gym if it is alone in a level 17 S2 cell. This is a good article about S2 cells and PoGo: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

I have had a quick look. It appears that both the Hot Tub and the Pool share a Level 17 S2 Cell with Robinwood Spring. As a result, only one of these three wayspots can appear in Pokémon Go as a Pokéstop or Gym, and I’m guessing Robinwood Spring is the one that is already in the game. The other two may be eligible to appear as Power Spots though.

I understand, but then, how other places have many different pokestops or gyms in much smaller area? It doesn’t make sense to me.
For example parks, piers, etc

Looking at the Ingress map, you already have Robinwood Spring as the PokéStop for this cell (green circle).

The pool nomination is a Portal in Ingress, as it meets inclusion rules there for being at least 20m away from an existing Portal.

The spa hot tub (red circle) is within 20m of an existing Portal (the pool) and within the same cell as an existing PokéStop so doesn’t meet inclusion criteria for either game.

Hope that all helps.

Hi,

It’s all about placement and a greater luck with cells in the park.

This small park has 7 cells and 8 nominations within it (the blue dots are in valid for Pokemonwhilst the orange one is valid for other games.
The blue dot in the bottom of the picture is close to the park, but not in the park

I recently discovered a park I haven’t visited before, and even if the park only has 4 cells covering the park and 2 wayspots is already in place, I have sent in 8 new submissions even if I know only 2 of them can showup In Pokemon - but can be eligble for other games or maybe be Powerstops in Pokemon.

I think I understand better about this, but like I mentioned before, how are some places having more than 1 pokestop per lv 17 cell.
For example here on Pier 39 in San Francisco, CA

Is there a bypass to this rule?
Are S2 cells used for Pokestops there a higher level?
Is it because its a tourist atraction?

It just doesnt seem very clear in that aspect.

In the past it was possible to move a pokestop or gym into an already filled cell and it would remain a stop. This was used maliciously to create areas of high density of gyms in particular which was not intended. This was changed some time ago so that if moved into an occupied cell that cell would recalculate to enforce the rule.
We see reports in here now and then of areas where this malicious behaviour took place and a whole area is then recalculated to enforce the rules.

To add to what Eli has said, this also seems to be from PoGo Map, a third party site where users have to add information so is not always accurate.

I’ve seen people submit something and then add it to PoGo Map before it’s approved, hoping it will go on.

Its possible that some also sponsored pokestop. Sponsored pokestop doesnt stop wayspot nomination to become pokestop/gym

I haven’t witnessed it myself, but I have seen reports here that sponsored stops can repress accepted wayspots from showing as stops and gyms until the sponsored stop goes away.

I havent seen that case. But i personally submit wayspot inside cell that have 2 sponsored pokestop. My submission appeared.

Perhaps different sponsored wayspot might behave differently
