I have done my best to add an update to a pokestop and even making a new route to back this up. We have a new path which is highly used going through the middle of our sustainable park a one great for a walking route. Just wanting to gauge how this gets added into the game?

Wayspots that represent walking/running (exercise) can make great wayspots. I recommend nominating trail entrances and mile markers.
That said, Routes are purely a Pokemon Go game interaction. So I cannot give you more based on routes from a Wayfarer perspective.

Routes are purely a Pokémon Go game feature so any issues should be raised in game.
It does look like a great community facility.
Do be aware that signs that are simply showing directions are not eligible.
Entrance signs welcoming people to the park are good, but not every entrance point will be eligible if they are close together.
It is very tricky with a newly developed facility to ensure correct placement but I think you need to correct the baseball diamond which should be touching but not interfering with play and one of the directional markers.
You can do this by using the help bubble on the wayfarer website to suggest correct placements.
