I got 2 water points rejected by ML. I saw plenty of those as POI across Italy in my opinion it’s a good point to explore since those are good drinking water points and one of the visit cards of the country
The eligibility is the same as it always was. Basic drinking fountains are infrastructure, which is not eligible. However, some of these are art as well as infrastructure, so would be eligible on those grounds. ML seems to work best with as little background clutter as possible, if you want to try to tweak the photos and resubmit, but these photos are already very good. If you feel these should meet criteria as works of art, I would recommend you appeal them. You get 2 appeals, each on a 20 day timer before you can use it again if you want to go that route.
I am not sure what you mean by “visit cards” but maybe you could bring that up in your appeal, which will be looked at by human reviewers.
I’ll wait for the staff’s reply on why ML rejected this. Thanks for your effort
You may not get a staff reply in regards to this matter, especially here in the forums. Just want you to be prepared for that, as they are busy with other issues, and nomination support isn’t something they typically will respond to. Other regulars and possibly an ambassador may respond.
Like previously noted, drinking fountains by themselves are ineligible. However, these have some artistic value, and are worth exploring. That’s what would be best to focus on, instead of them being drinking fountains.
Please feel free to fully share your nominations, and we are more than happy to look at them to see how they can be improved upon. It could be more than just the photos that ML took issue with, so knowing the titles/descriptions/supporting infos will help us help you improve.
So you know…
This is mainly a place for peer support amongst community members.
The Wayfarer Team do will sometimes comment on some questions. However I have no idea if even they know why the autobot (nickname Emily) has rejected things for sure.
They do make sure that the answers and advice that are being given are reasonable and not total nonsense.
Nothing special with the name or description. To be clear, I’m on the other country now traveling and i won’t have a chance to come back at those places even if I’m still at the same city. I’ve wasted my time and money to come here, then wasted my companions time when i was taking pictures for pois and also filling the form of submission, when i could just enjoy surroundings instead i choose to do this and some machine does this for no reason. I’m kinda pissed especially seeing exactly same drinking points as a live pokestops. Most of them don’t have a history but they are drinking points, a thing you need when explore stuff and jog. They even have mobile application to find those
If you really think they are eligible then you can appeal them, but as others stated, they are just generic infrastructure. You need to make your submissions based on wayfarer criteria, not wayspots around you.
Is there history or something unique about the fountains in Lecco? Like a similar background/history/artistic details like you’d find on the Toret or the Drago Verde fountains? Those kinds of unique, interesting details can help with the nomination. Simply saying it’s a water fountain isn’t going to be enough, even for reviewers. Research the story of the fountains, why and when they were installed, and what makes them special to the community. And when you take photos of the fountains, really make the fountain the star of the image. Center it, don’t include unnecessary background clutter or people in the photo, make the fountain look it’s very best. If there’s a special detail on the fountain that’s only visible from one side, show that detail off in your photo. You may even want to clean up the fountain a bit by removing leafs or any rubbish from the area beforehand.
@loneleon
If you appeal take the advice that @aliccolo has given about making a case for them.
I appreciate that you might feel right now as though you have wasted time, however we all started out not knowing what is acceptable and had to find out.
We are happy to help you by using our experience so you dont have to go through it all.
