Does this fountain meet criteria? Or is this too inappropriate?

I live in Las Vegas and we have tons of fountains. Ive seen some statues of angels before get approved around Caesars Palace, but a member of my communities campfire said he submitted this and it got rejected. I am a Pokemon Go community ambassador and I want to make sure I give him the right advice on whether or not this statue meets wayfarer criteria, because I am not really sure. It does seem like it could be considered inappropriate in a way, but at the same time its just a statue of an angel. I just dont want to give the wrong advice and I figured this would be the best place to ask.

Did he tell you what the rejection reasons were? I don’t love this, ngl, but I do think it would meet criteria if nothing else is wrong with the nomination or location.

Doing a Google Lens search brought up some results that I found interesting. This appears to be a replica of a well-known fountain in Brussels, called the Manneken Pis, which has been around since the 1600s. This fountain is outside of The D Casino and Hotel, and it’s called Manneken Pis LV.

Being this is based off of a famous fountain in Brussels, and they do have many statues showing off the human form in Europe, I would say this is eligible, even if some see it as obscene. In Europe, this isn’t seen as obscene, so it may be one that your friend may have to appeal, and provide more info about the fountain it’s a replica of.

I was gonna say that this looked a lot like Manneken Pis, and the original fountain in Brussels is in the database. I would say that sets a precedent that the one in Las Vegas should be OK.

@PrestonGraff if your community member does try to resubmit this, I would suggest they include the fact that it’s an homage to the original Manneken Pis fountain in Brussels. I don’t know how well known the original is over in the USA, but here in Europe it’s a very well known fountain and there’s plenty of documentation about it online.

Not well known, as, well, we tend not to have art that features the nud3 form out in public, except in an art museum or gallery. Vegas though doesn’t really have this as a concern, I would say, especially with places there that do pay homage to international locations.

I guess u can try. But dont be discouraged if “your local community” reject it. Approval is mostly decided by community review anyway.(unless rejected by AI or got picked by wayfarer team).

This kind of thing sometimes fall in gray area where people opinion split.

Well, it is art, and its in no way sexual or porn0gr4phic.

Its displayed in open public, and therefore should be a good wayspot in my opinion.

I’d appeal it, with context on the history of the piece, maybe the artist and whatever you can find.

Anyways, it totally depends on local culture if this is appropriate or not, but the fact that it is displayed in public certainly is a strong hint that it is.

Im also european, so my views might not apply to the US were nudity in general is seen as more offensive. So no clear answer from me here, just my opion.

I’d leave it to the Appeals team.

This is why I asked what the rejection reasons were. It seems like a good candidate for an appeal depending on why it was rejected.
