I too love Food Lion!
Nice helpful research there @cyndiepooh
Thanks a lot, this helps. I have submitted the plaza sign before but it didnât get accepted but probably because I didnât have a great support statement. You think I can redo it ?
You can share a screenshot of the rejected nomination here and we could help you improve it.
what text did you use? i can already see that i would recommend you take a little tighter photo of the sign with less background so the ML wonât be confused and reject it. I like to take my photos first and go through to see what the best one is, and crop or straighten it as necessary, and then use the âchoose existingâ photo option when i make the nomination. I would frame it more like this
This the text I used
(this plaza is where you connect to the neighborhoods that matter to you so you can thrive.)
Now I know it doesnât sound convincing enough, I was just trying to see if it accepted back then
No worries. You are trying to make the point that it is important to the community, and that is the right track. For the description, maybe something like âSmall town destination plaza with a variety of goods, services, and dining options for the community.â I mean, if you want to copy that itâs fine, but that is off the top of my head and you should make it unique to there if you can. Then in the supporting you could link the clarification and mention the specific stores and restaurants, and point out how together they encourage being social and exploration by encouraging people to come together here.
I think a great photo clearly focused on the sign without a lot of extra background will help this one since the original rejection was ML.
I would probably not accept this sign. The strip mall doesnât have much that would make it a great place to socialize or explore (grocery store, chain haircut store, dollar store). I agree signs like these can be eligible, but the challenge is making an argument that the mall is a great place to explore or socialize and this one will be tough.
It might be important to the community, but it needs to be important for socializing or exploring to the community (I assume weâve ruled out exercise).
I get your point, but looking on the map I disagree. This seems like it would be a hub in a small town with the collection of restaurants and other services which
but if I made it sound like this was a sure fire accept, ty for tempering the expectation. i meant that this was worth trying.
Thanks for the help. I would redo it with better context and photo.
Also does the ml scan the surrounding photo as well? When you submit in pogo the first pic is the stop you want to make them the next one is the surrounding areaâŚshould I double up the plaza pic or show the whole plaza area behind the sign for the second pic?
Oh glad you asked because I forgot to address that. The supporting photo should show the point of interest in it as well as the main, but include more of the surrounding area. My recommendations on framing were only for the main photo. Donât use this street view screen snip but an angle like this would show that the sign has pedestrian access as well as showing the shops in the background
And we donât (and shouldnât) know exactly how ML works, but it seems to be the main photo that makes it accept or reject as far as I can tell. The supporting photo is more for if the ML model sends it to humans to review - either in house to Niantic or leaves it for the community.
Alrighty thanks so much for yâall help. Letâs hope it works for me again.
