You will see the rejection reason on your contribution itself. You will find that at https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/nominations but I have a guess that it was rejected by the “automated process” based on those photos. It is difficult to take a photo of a big open field that the machine learning model can recognize as anything that is eligible.
If there is a sign denoting the use of this space, I would recommend resubmitting with a photo centered on the sign.

The problem is a lack of an anchor, something to tie the submission to. These are not essential for natural features but are extremely helpful. Without an anchor, which could be a bench, there is nothing to say why this spot is better than that spot, and every wayspot is a specific spot even if they represent a large object.
An entrance into this space would work, as this would show that is is a popular space due to the wearing down of the grass at that entrance.

Is this open space listed on the council website as a recreation area they maintain?
If it is a link to there will help prove that it is meant to be for relaxation and exercise.
It’s definitely maintained by someone! It’s mown several times a year, judging by the first photo, and that’s a large space. It’s almost certainly a field intended for people to use in indeterminate ways.
