Appeal for Removed Portal – (Bug hotel, 55.830140, 25.030042)

Dear Niantic Support Team,

I recently noticed that a portal at the coordinates (Bug Hotel, 55.830140, 25.030042) has been removed from Ingress. I would like to kindly request a review of this decision, as I believe the portal meets all the necessary criteria for inclusion in the game. I also include some photos from the place, where this waypoint is clearly visible.

The portal was:
• Located in a publicly accessible area
• Not causing any obstruction or disturbance to the surroundings
• A relevant and valid point of interest for the community

Portal details:
Wayspot Title: Bug Hotel
Location (lat/lon): 55.830140; 25.030042
City: Slavinčiškis, Kupiškio seniūnija, Panevėžio apskritis
Country: Lithuania

Could you please provide clarification on why it was removed? Additionally, I would appreciate a reconsideration of this decision if there were no significant issues with its location.

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
stiicooper

Thanks for the appeal, @stiicooper. We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.

Hello.
Is there any more comment available? Why it is not suitable? The POI is not interesting or location is somehow not suitable? I don’t want to agree with this solution, because from my view the POI and location looks suitable.

Not providing insight in why Niantic decided to not bring it back, but just some more personal insight which might you help reflect on it.

The location based on this pictures is the side of the road, which does not look to be a great location to safely stand still.

Furthermore, I do not see how a generic insect hotel you can buy in many DIY stores, makes for a GREAT location to socialize, exercise or explore.

Dear iFrankmans, thank you for the insights.
But I can not agree. Location is completely ok, because here in Lithuania there are a lot of wayspots near the roads (a lot of wooden cross’es expecialy). Unsafe location is only near the highway. Here is just a small road, cars are allowed to park near the wayspot.
I hope Nia decided to retire only because they decided this bug hotel is not an exclusive piece of art or craftmanship.

You should not take existing wayspots to be a reflection of the criteria. There are plenty of examples out there that do not meet the criteria and would be removed upon reporting those.

Even if you consider this to be a safe location locally, Niantic operates globally so also applies this worldwide. There is no marked pedestrian access to this location and I would therefore likely mark this as unsafe as well.

Mass-produced is actually mentioned in the first point in the rejection criteria:
