Additional Information (if any): This nomination was rejected as duplicate after having appealed this Wayspot. It is 100% not a duplicate of the existing bridge. They are 2 different bridges and can be clearly seen on street view.
There is already a way spot for a Footbridge over a Medway Stream. It might not be the same foot bridge but the name is very close and it looks very similar, so reviewers might consider it a duplicate if it.
Thank you for your reply. Yeah I agree they are similar but they are different bridges. I am appealing the appeal here as I can provide more evidence here with extra pictures etc. Even if it is too similar to the other wayspot, it shouldn’t be rejected for being a duplicate, but for being not unique instead. Though I think it is unique enough to be its own Wayspot. Fingers crossed!
So this area is not for appealing denied way spots. You have to do that through the game. You say you are appealing the appeal but the message above looks like the original rejection. If you haven’t already appealed the decision through the game and offer evidence that this is indeed a different bridge if you can. If you have already appealed it, then your best bet is to resubmit With an improved nomination.
Thanks for your reply. I did appeal this yesterday and the result came back today but something went wrong because the email I recieved, as you said, was not an appeal result email. That’s also why I opened this thread. Because my appeal has been wasted now…
Hi, there is a known bug where duplicate decisions by the appeals team send an incorrect “community” email. This is what happened in your situation (cc @Leedle95 for info).
This is just a technical comment, I have not investigated the bridges and I leave it up to the team to determine whether it’s an incorrect appeal outcome.
Note that the acceptance of your first footbridge doesn’t automatically guarantee that all others nearby will be eligible.
Welcome @AbsoluteAnimal
I am going to move this to the Nomination Support area as it is not does not fit into this appeals category.
If you can post your full original submission both photos, all the text and preferably the location.
Also if you have any further evidence to try and distinguish the 2 it would be he;pful.
We can see what it would look like to a reviewer and if there is any help we can give.
You should appeal the rejection from your contributions page, but first get advice here about why it was rejected. I am too confused about the situation with the footbridges to help much.
Okay I just found an appeal marked duplicate from early on when I forgot that I had already appealed a different submission of it. I made a note that “appeals marked duplicate get the standard community rejection email” so that may be adding to the confusion here. That was in May 2022 but maybe it hasn’t changed.
I have not been following this very closely. If you submitted both footbridges discussed here in succession, I wonder if the the Pokemon Go glitch where it doesn’t change the gps coordinates happened? If you did submit both footbridges on the same trip, check your submission email near the end to see if both went in at the same spot. It will be listed below the supporting photo, and I didn’t know it was there for ages:
Having looked at the area there are as you might expect in an area where the Medway has split into little rivulets, a number of bridges. There are some distinct and some that are similar. So it can be confusing and hard to tell them apart. Understandable that it might be thought of as a duplicate. However on the photos including those already in the database it looks different enough. It tricky as you can only supply the pictures of the submitting bridge and actually you want to compare them all. You could take the supplementary using an app like GPS camera tgat prints tge co ordinates on the photo so a reviewer can check the location is different.
Looks like a lovely place to explore and walk
