Appealed nomination rejected as duplicate incorrectly by appeal reviewer

The post inspired me to appeal the appeal
When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Club Lime 24/7 gym

  • Location (lat/lon): (-26.7181410, 153.0481878)

  • City: Sunshine Coast

  • Country: Australia

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information): will add it with edit once I have Wi-Fi.

  • Additional Information (if any): if you check carefully, there is no the same existed wayspot on the lightship map

I took a look at those coordinates, and don’t see a portal there. I do see a Label for “Club Lime Sippy Downs” though. Is that a Powerspot? I wonder if this was incorrectly duped to an imported Powerspot?

Someone else will have to confirm that it is not in the Lightship database. But I see no reason for this not to be a portal if it were.

Nothing that I can see.

Maybe it’s ye olde property owner geoblock? Could even have been from a prior owner.

Hmm… interesting thought. Do those show anywhere that we could see it?

No, it’s a private transaction between them and Niantic. And it’s forever, unless a new owner can make a convincing appeal.

Any example I have seen, the Lightship Wayspot remains, it is only geoblocked from the games.

We cannot see the agreement, but we’ve almost always been able to view the Wayspot on the Geospatial browser and recognize that it isn’t in Ingress or PoGO.

Just wondering if you can provide a screenshot of the appeal decision text from Contribution Management. I’m interested to see what they exactly wrote.

Oh I read it as asking if geoblocks show anywhere. No, there’s not a public map or list of blocked areas. We have to observe the behavior with new nominations, and speculate. And that behavior could change for all we know, showing on Wayfarer or not.

I think it would be helpful to see the actual nomination. I can think of several wild possibilities.

I just went back to the contribution page to take a screenshot, but it had already changed to “Accepted”.

It was marked as duplicate

Staff do watch the forums, so it’s possible that they saw this, took another look, and reversed the decision. Also would seem like there isn’t a geoblock here.

So is probably as we originally suspected: the appeals reviewer had marked this as a duplicate of a Powerspot import, which is not supposed to happen, as those are not part of the Lightship database. I guess we will never know for sure unless Niantic chooses to enlighten us, but at least they reversed the decision.

It’s possible, but I think most didn’t bother to look at your thread, aka “The post,” to see that they may have seen this as a Power Spot in the past, or an orange exclamation point on the PoGo nomination map.

For those wondering, this may be the post in the other thread that the OP was referring to, just for those wondering.

My guess is that this POI might be reviewed by one of the ambassadors. I have been seeking help for this for a while, but one of them (the same ambo) was trying to hide my question and request under the table. He/she may not want niantic staffs know a wrongful decision were made

This is absolutely not the case. The ambassadors do not do appeals reviews. In fact, you will see posts from ambassadors in this category asking for an appeal. The ambassadors are known for pushing for clarity when odd stuff happens. If any of your posts were hidden, then they probably contained content that goes against the forum rules.

Looking at my post had nothing to do with this appearing to be a duplicate to a Powerspot import. It was just a case of getting an appeal rejection overturned. The reasons were different in the two cases. Mine was NOT rejected as duplicate.

It does, if you review all of the posts from others. They didn’t think of it being a possible Power Spot import, and the OP said they were inspired by your appeal. Most went straight to geoblock, even Gendgi. And the rejection reasons don’t matter, as both were rejected by the apoeals team for poor reasons.

Again, nothing to get all twisted up about. The OP got their issue resolved; just trying to figure out why others may not have thought it was an import.

That is so condescending. The first theory posted - by me - was that this was a duplicate of a Powerspot import.

One person suggested geoblock. Gendgi responded to the question of if there is any way to check that for us.

You are taking this too seriously, and it’s not that serious.
