Appeal of Swill Wayspot Edit Rejection(s)

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Swill

  • Location (lat/lon): 39.4930961, -119.8072661

  • City: Reno

  • Country: United States

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): I am requesting the approval of a Wayspot Edit/Correction within Pokemon Go. There is nothing wrong with the Wayspot beyond the current fact that it is inaccurate.

  • Swill is permanently closed.

  • As of July 25th, 2026, Between The Covers is the business operating at this location. Per Wayspot requirements, titles must be accurate. Since the location now belongs to a different shop, this Wayspot is no longer accurate.

  • My appeal for my photo submission was approved. However, my title edit submission and subsequent rejection appeal were not. I’m also kind of annoyed at being accused of “abuse, ridicule, or harassment of a specific group” when I’m not.

  • At present, my submission for edits to the Wayspot description are currently under review. No decision has been made yet.

  • Please see the additional screenshots I’ve attached for evidence that A) Swill is closed and a new business is now in the Wayspot location, B) my photo submission was approved but title edit rejected + why, and C) Wayspot’s own criteria for “Accuracy First”.

  • Thank you.

Hello @ValidEmotions

Welcome to the forum, sorry it is over a frustration though.

I am one that does appreciate an accurate map. But unfortunately you have approached this the wrong way for Scopely. As noted in the Appeal response, what you are attempting to do is repurpose the wayspot. Each wayspot must meet eligibility on its own merit. So the Coffee/wine shop is different from the bookstore. So what is recommended is to request removal of the old spot and additionally nominate the new one.

I will also add that it was likely flagged as Abuse by reviewers because of the repurposing. The Abuse note is very poorly worded.

Okay, I appreciate the response!

It leaves me confused now, however.
If edits to a poke stop are considered “repurposing”, then why is it an available feature in-game?

It’s mostly for typos in my opinion. Or adding a slight bit more detail. For example:

  • Independence Park Little Free Library instead of Little Free Library as a title update
  • Similar things can be done for description updates. I often see where an art piece goes from a minimal description because the original nominator didn’t know all the background
  • Photo updates are cool because our phone cameras are so much better than when some of these wayspots were first nominated well over a decade ago

Oh, that’s understandable, okay! Thank you!
I need to search around for the info really quickly on how to do it, but I’ll put together the correct POI Removal request.
Do I need to wait for that request to be approved of before I make a submission for a “new” poke stop? Or is it possible to start both simultaneously?

You can do it simultaneously.

I’d recommend doing a removal request directly from Pokemon Go.

I appreciate the help!
