I had a local coffee shop by me and it was a little ways off of where the actual shop was located. I put in a location edit but its still wasnt close enough to the actual coffee shop (think strip mall and it was a stop at the end of it but the coffee shop was actual located in the middle) so i had to email their support for additional info. My edit got rejected and now the pokestop is completely removed. I dont understand how that is the final outcome, it was a coffee shop something that is in the reccomended for pokestops on the wayfarer guide (it says your favorite coffee shop), its also not like the area is full of stops theres only 2 and a 2 gyms for the area around the shop. For context its right across the street from a local park, ive actually been actively trying to get more pokestops in the area but ive had 3 rejections for things i thought would be good and now we have lost another stop in that area for some unknown reason, the only thing it mentioned was abuse and im not sure how that tracks really
Have the coffeashop changed name since it was submitted? Or was the new location perhaps in the same ”cell” as an already existing spot in pogo?
Its been in the same place, name wise it does just say coffee shop on the front but has the name of the actual store inside. But i’m aware of cells but not sure how they work so im not sure on that front. It was reviewed by a niantic employee, i saw the air balloon icon by it and assumed it was gonna be fine, but now that you mention i guess the name could of disqualified it.
Did they tell you it had been removed, or did it just go away? If you give the name and approximate location someone with access to the Wayfarer app can see if it still exists, just in a new location that is not eligible to show in Pokemon Go. Or you can start a nomination while you are right there and turn on the toggle in the nomination map screen to see all existing Wayspots.
Welcome to the forum, btw! I hope we can help figure out what happened.
Hello! There’s a lot to unpack in your first message. I would like to clarify a couple of things.
-
Yes, I have found that coffee shops can make good wayspots. But whether or not they are accepted entirely depends on the quality of the submission and the submitter’s ability to explain how this coffee shop is a great place to be social or explore (exotic menu items?).

Something like a coffee shop being close to a park doesn’t make it more eligible as a wayspot. It could be part of the submission that it is a natural gathering spot for people after they walk in the park - but that statement should be true and not just something you make up to make the submission sound better.

Edits and cells. Yes, if there is already another pokestop or gym inside the cell where the coffee shop was moved to, the coffee shop wayspot should disappear from the PGO map. Sometimes this glitches, but the expected behavior is that there should only be one pokething in each Level 17 cell. If you would like for us to help you figure this out, we can look at the map for you. We would need to know the GPS coordinates or the approximate address and the name of the wayspot.
Until we know if the wayspot just disappearedf from PGO, we can’t really go further guessing what happened with it.
Thank you for the insight in was very helpful! I’ve attached a screenshot of the proposed edit. As for your first point and i guess your third a little, i wasnt the one who originally submitted it so im unsure if the original description was good enough. But i just noticed it was a couple buildings shifted over i guess my ocd wanted it in the right spot haha. And about a day after i submitted the location edit it just disappeared from the in game map.
Thanks. We will look into this…
Also, I want to verify that you did the right thing moving it if the location was wrong. That’s true even if moving it caused it to disappear.
edit:
Google streetview at that exact GPS location is from 2019. Both streetview and satellite show a 3 story apartment building there.
Actually, streetview on the front side of the building is from 2022 - still shows that apartment building.
Based on this evidence, it looks like your edit was not correct.
The current location (as shown in your screenshot) shows this on street view
That is where the wayspot is located, appears to be correct, and is in a cell that is occupied by 2 other wayspots so it will not appear in PGO. The other 2 wayspots are Pierce Field Memorial and Bobcat Sports Bar.
The right circle is the pin location of what seems to be where you suggested the edit. The left circle is where it currently exists.
Oh! Did you mean that the game would not let you submit a long enough location edit? Those are limited to 10m in Pokemon Go. If you have a future correction that is too far to submit in game, you can ask help chat to do it for you. Go to the Help menu on the Wayfarer site. A text box will pop up, and there will be an option for Location Edits>10m. You can give them evidence there for the move.
It appears from what @seaprincesshnb posted that the Wayspot did get moved to the Coffee Shop irl location and is now correct.
Thats odd, the spot was originally located at the right circle at the apartment complex before I submitted it. I may have made an error when i submitted to the chat bot but i guess thats life haha. As a side note Bobcat Sports Bar currenty isnt a stop in game either only Pierce Field Memorial.
But thank you again for all the help it was very insightful!!!
Based on what Cyndie wrote (and I missed in your original explanation), I think I know what happened here.
You saw this was located on the apartment building and tried to move it through one of the games (PGO?). But the games don’t allow for edits over 10 m. When you try to do an edit longer than 10 m, the pin snaps back to the original spot. You probably didn’t notice that, so your edit was for the exact same coordinates as the current location.
Thankfully, someone at Niantic picked this up and moved it to the right spot. Hooray for teamwork!
Just wanted to mention, i just recieved a warning on my account for malicious location edit. Im at a loss as to how i was being malicious, the only thing i think I could have done wrong was incorrectly answer the chatbots questions when i was submitting to move it over the original 10m and ended up putting everything in a paragraph at the end. There was another stop in my area thats also in the wrong area but im worried my account might face further scrutiny just because i was trying to help.
You should have gotten an email with the title of the waypoint in question
