Hallo,
I got a POI approved, but it hasn’t appeared in Pokemon GO yet? Where did it go? It’s been many months since the Wayspot nomination was accepted (more than 48 hours ago and many updates ago).
It is probably in the same level 17 s2 cell as an existing pokething.
Welcome @hairlesscatcher
Your approved wayspots first get added to the Lightship database.
Each individual game decides on specific rules as to how it will select wayspots to use from that database.
Google S2 cells and Pokémon Go - Pokémongohub has a very good explanation. But it is likely it doesn’t meet the selection rules.
If you provide the location we can check.
I have poke stop that just got accepted but it has 72 hours and have not seen it. I do see it on the map now for other games, but I only play Pokemon go. Why?
It is probably in the same level 17 s2 cell as an existing pokething.

Hello and Welcome @jessadam627
If you provide the title and location we can have a look. It is likely that it hasn’t met Pokémon Go selection rules. This is frustrating but if we help with this wayspot you will find out more for future submissions.
Can you provide the gps coordinates from the submission email? [edit, nvm, see next comment]
I found the general area for the Pine Island Ridge Natural Area, but I don’t see this in Ingress either. Ingress has a 20m distance inclusion rule, and Pokemon Go inclusion is based on S2 cells, which you can read about here:
It Takes 2 days Before You See it
It’s in the same Level 17 S2 Cell as the “The Ridge Community Pool”, so it can’t appear in Pokémon Go. It’s also within 20 metres of the community pool, so it can’t appear in Ingress either.
As mentioned by hankwolfman above, the new wayspot shares the level 17 cell with “The Ridge Community Pool”, therefore does not appear in Pokemon Go.
(note that the “pool” wayspot does not appear in ingress and on the intel map because it’s in turn too close to another portal; but I assume “pool” appears in Pokemon).
Based on the locations in Pokemon Go and inputting the spots on Pogo, the location that I nominated and was accepted should be in Pokemon but its not. If I understand correctly, for a Pokespot to be added to the game, there can’t be another spot in the level 17 area. Well my spot is in a wide open area and it still was placed in another Niantic game.
What is frustrating to me is, I only play Pokemon Go and really try to make my nominations worth adding to benefit me and other players but when it gets placed in a different game, it makes me not want to continue adding waypoints in the game.
If we are going have access to create spots, it really should benefit all games not just what someone thinks is best for each game. The point of reviewing spots is to weed out the duplicates and spots that are in a inappropriate locations or doesn’t benefit the community.
It’s not so much that it was placed in a different game but that the rules for that game allow it to appear.
Map is the base layer that you are adding to then the rules for each Niantic product are applied then the product uses them or not.
I get that doesn’t help your Wayspot appear in Go but it is useful to know how everything functions.
If it truly is in an empty L17 S2 cell but not showing in PoGo, sometimes a property owner will get upset with Pokemon Go players and ask for all the Pokemon Go locations to be removed, but not ask for the Wayspots to be removed, so Ingress portals and other game locations remain.
If you are not sure that your “wide open” area is an empty L17 cell, you can post the gps coordinates and someone can check for you.
That makes sense. There was an issue at a local park/botanical garden here in Springfield, MO that the manager of the building complained that there were too many people playing pokemon in the park so now when elite raids or Go fest is going on, the park is practically empty. It still has all the gyms and spots but you have to walk 10 mins to the other side of the park to get close enough to one maybe two gyms to raid on these events.
that hug reaction i used is just too happy. ugh i hate some folks messed it up for you and i am afraid they are going to do the same at our park. parking on the side of the road, blocking the pathways, just generally forgetting to be considerate of other people
the places i know of where it has happened here are a catholic church, a professional soccer stadium, and a random neighborhood
oh and then there were the folks who got into a screaming match with a restaurant owner downtown over taking all the parking places for his customers during raid hour - and they were surprised to find the gym gone the next week
Is the same manager still in charge?
