Appeal: Wrong rejection criteria (Harassment) and proof of existence for "Banca de Piedra"

Hi Wayfarer Team,

I am writing to appeal the rejection of my nomination “Banca de Piedra” in Tamaulipas. The nomination was rejected for “Harassment” and “Inaccurate location”.

I would like to clarify that this is a generic stone bench located in a common outdoor area. There is no text, people, or elements that could be interpreted as harassment, making this rejection criteria completely invalid and offensive.

Regarding the location, I am attaching additional photos showing the bench in relation to the main building. It is a permanent installation. I believe the automated process or the reviewers made a mistake due to outdated satellite imagery.

I kindly ask you to review this case, as I have recently received a policy warning regarding “Inaccurate location” based on these types of incorrect rejections. My intentions are only to contribute high-quality, real locations to the map.

Thank you for your time.

Welcome to the forums

The “Abuse” rejection narrative can be flagged for a nomination for any of the following reasons

* The photo is not yours (e.g., taken from streetview, found on another website)
* The text itself is abusive
* The nomination is controversial and likely to be offensive (e.g., a mural of terrorists)
* Another nomination was abusive and all of yours have been flagged as a consequence
* The wayspot location pin is misplaced
* The wayspot is deliberately misrepresented (e..g., on school property but pretending it isn’t)
* (there may be others)

Don’t worry about being accused of being discriminatory, as this isn’t what this narrative is saying. It sounds like you have been flagged for location errors, which is one of the causes of the "abuse "narrative.

Hi. I’m posting because I don’t understand why my nomination was rejected for ‘Inaccurate Location’ when it clearly exists, as shown in the attached evidence. It’s frustrating to receive a policy warning for a valid, real-life spot.

Judging by where the pin is in your screenshot, you did misplace the nomination. The pin in your screenshot is above the pin for “Trareysa / Grupo Burgos”, whilst the area you’ve circled is to the left of that pin. Misplacing a wayspot can be considered abuse, hence why you got the rejection reasons of misplacement and abuse.

The pin needs to be directly on the object you’re nomination, not several meters to the north east of it.

The attached evidence is too tiny for me to comment on the location issue. I was explaining the “abuse” narrative.

If you want advice on the location issue, please post the following

  • Title
  • Main photo
  • Submission co-ordinates from your submission receipt email, found below the pictures, looks like (e.g.) 23.34342, -2.34212

You could also post the supporting photo, description and supporting text.

Edit: @hankwolfman has better eyes than me

And there is no way to correct this if a mistake is made.

I don’t know if I’m wrong, but I don’t think I deserve to be bothered.

If you located a submission incorrectly and realise, you can ask help chat to withdraw it if it has already gone into voting.

If it hasn’t gone into voting, you can withdraw it yourself and resubmit it at the correct location.

Hey @elcochiloco69 ,

Please refer to my DM for details.

Thanks,

Hello, there is all the evidence that the Poqueparada is real, it meets all the criteria, it is a social area available to staff and authorized guests, it does not violate any regulations, the argument of the wrong location is a mistake.

It would help if you can provide the coordinates, as already explained, at which you submitted this POI.

Hopefully the DM from Niantic has provided you with an explanation. The ‘satellite’ images are not detailed enough to show this bench and although streetview shows the tree, that doesn’t show the bench either. I cannot tell from your supporting photo where the bench is in relation to the tree.

And in this case, can I do anything to improve the proposal, send you a photo, or something? I was really upset to receive a warning when I just want to contribute to the game, but thanks to your explanation, I understand what my mistakes were. Do you have any advice or anything you can give me to resolve this misunderstanding?

You can use the web submission process at Niantic Wayfarer to provide up to 5 supporting photos. This is useful when something is not visible on streetview or google ‘satellite’, as you can provide a series of photos to prove it exists where you are putting it.

For example, after your main supporting photo showing the bench and the tree (which is a focal point), you could have a photo that matches what is visible from streetview, then walk closer to that wall and show a photo looking over the wall that includes the wall. Explain this is the supporting text.

Also, make absolutely sure you have the location correct. Please note however that this location is blocked for Pokemon Go by Pintura Abstracta en Grupo Burgos, so it will be a powerspot but not a pokestop if accepted.

Finally, is there anything I can do about the warning I received?

If you can prove you got the location correct, then you may be able to get the warning revoked. You have an open DM with @NianticAaron so this where I would provide that evidence.

I don’t know how to view DMs, sorry, it’s my first time using the blog

I find them when there is an alert in my profile. Other than that, click on your profile icon at the top right, go to Other Notifications and you should see any DMs there.
