Bad Appeal Decision

Posting here as I feel this was a bad decision from appeal reviewers and would like it to be overturned if possible please.

Was initially rejected by community review for PRP and unsafe access, appealed it with my usual overly long essay explaining the reasons this was wrong and why I feel it should be accepted.

Now hear me out here, appeal reviewers say I need to include additional information such as articles and also gained generic business, now maybe its just me and I need my eyes testing, but I did include 3 links there right? I’m not hallucinating?

and lastly, generic business? you’d of thought in all my years doing this, I should of realized places like this is clearly a generic business, my bad /s

Oh hey, I didn’t realise you’d been over my neck of the woods. I noticed another wayspot down that way over the weekend, I assume it was you who submitted it? Small world haha

Heh yeah, we were there for February IFS, I walked past a few of the pogo’ers outside spoons once or twice, and yeah that one over there was me as well, there’s a few new portals in Harrogate now

I don’t think I was up in town when the IFS was happening (didn’t even realise there was one in Harrogate to be honest haha). So we likely didn’t pass each other without realising.

Anyway, that’s going off on a tangent from your actual post. If Niantic staff are looking at this, I’ve lived in Harrogate for most of my life, and I can verify what @belahzur is saying about the building (the provided evidence should speak for itself anyway). It’s a lovely building on the outskirts of the town centre next to one of the major parks in Harrogate, and it is very much worth a stroll to go and see it. There is also a heritage plaque detailing the history of the site, which is already a wayspot itself.

I’m going to move this to general as this isn’t an appeal in terms of what is looked at here.

It’s a great building.

I think this would be a great candidate for an review appeal.

It was during dmax kingler battle day thing  and yeah the IFS group moves around, different city/town each month, we just so happen to have landed in Harrogate for Feb https://x.com/IngressYorks/status/1879659972247839182

Oh yeah, I forgot that was a thing :man_facepalming:t3:

In that case you may well have walked past me as I was out for that and we did battle a couple of Kingler near Spoons, so maybe we did see each other and never knew about it haha.

Yeah I did think one of the people I saw doing the raids may have been you, but I didn’t want to randomly stop and ask which one is Hank  Plus I was busy doing triangles and such myself, it was a really good day out though

But… …the Appeals team made a bad decision and didn’t substantiate it in any reasonable manner.

Weren’t we supposed to post these in Appeals so the team could learn from and rectify their mistake?

I am also wondering if there’s a “correct” way to post the appeal decisions we disagreed with so theres the best chance staff will see them. I have one Id like looked at too

The appeals area is for specific types of appeals.
There is no appeal the appeal route, so we usually discuss in nomination support or in general discussion. Tge wayfarer team reads the posts here.
It is then a case of if they decide something needs overturned.

This seems to me the kind of nomination that is good.
I think the only query might be if the view is the plaque and the building are synonomous.

The plaque for it is not located on the building itself, but in the nearby park. It’s on what was once the outer wall that surrounded the hospital property when it was still the hospital. From where the plaque is located, you can’t actually see the building it’s on about, as there’s another building in the way (as well as the wall itself and various trees and bushes). Not sure what kind of decision making went into placing it where it is, you’d have to ask the civic society about that haha.

I would say the building itself would be worthy as its own wayspot, as the plaque is there to be informative and is part of the local heritage trail, whereas the building itself has merit for its architecture and status as a longstanding local landmark. It’s my local area though, so I may be a little bit biased

Am I remembering correctly……I seem to recall voting quite sometime e ago on the plaque (just looked at it) and that it was one of yours @hankwolfman?

But that wayspot is clearly a plaque and not an anchor for the building

I’ll join you there, I enjoyed pre-researching the building before the IFS event to see if it was worth visiting, that was when I found the other hospital further along that road, and then again doing my write-ups when I got home later that evening.

Yes, I did submit the plaque. That was 3 years ago now, good memory haha.

It was one of those rare ones that were really well done and I found it interesting.

I didn’t even get a chance to have a proper wonder round the park tbf, between doing the banner and then doing a lap of the town to get my photos to submit, I’d run out of time before the end of IFS, and then having lunch at spoons whilst waiting for the restock portal and then it was dark by 5. Would love to come back one day, I probably will at some stage, I get around Yorkshire a lot as you’ve probably seen

Dunno if you saw it, but I did get the showcase with 2 of my other Harrogate subs aswell.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen your name over various parts of West Yorkshire when I’ve been on my travels :slightly_smiling_face:

The Valley Gardens are good for a wander round, and look very pretty when all the flowers are in bloom (though my hay-fever isn’t so appreciative of that :joy: ), and there’s the pinewoods up the hill from there which make for a lovely walk in summer months and contains a direct path to RHS Harlow Carr, which is also a good trip out and has plenty of wayspots to interact with.

I missed the showcase ones, I was actually experiencing what seemed to be a bug with it recently where I could only see one nomination instead of three. That seems to be fixed now, as I can scroll through three today. Dunno if it was just me and my phone, or whether other locals were also experiencing it. Probably just my phone to be fair, as it does weird stuff like that sometimes :joy:

Just a shame neither will see the light of day, too close to other stuff, though I guess that could change if the new Saudi overlords decide to make something weird happen.
