[BUG] Upgraded nomination from July 3 still stuck in Queue — later submission already in Voting

Hello Wayfarer Team,

I’m experiencing a bug related to Upgraded nominations not progressing as expected.

I submitted “Bahadurtari Jama Masjid” on July 3, 2025 and immediately used an Upgrade. However, it is still showing as “In Queue” to this day.

Meanwhile, I submitted “Fakirpara Jama Masjid” on July 4, 2025 without any upgrade, and it has already progressed to “In Voting” status.

This seems like a clear issue, as Upgrades are supposed to prioritize and push nominations to Voting faster than normal submissions.

I’ve also confirmed this by refreshing and logging in again. Attached is a screenshot showing the current status of both nominations for your reference.

Please look into this delay or processing error and help get the Upgraded nomination into voting as expected.

As far as I’m aware that’s intended behaviour. There’s a period of time that many Wayfarers call a “grace period” which can be 1-7 days.

During this time the nomination cannot enter “In Voting” even if Upgraded.

It is my understanding that the upgrade works to send it to a wider review pool once it hits voting. It may not help it to go into voting status any sooner. Here is how Aaron explained on another post:

Then why did that one without an upgrade enter to “In Voting” while it submitted later?

It randomly had a shorter grace period than the other one. That can happen.

The process goes along the lines of…

  • Pause for 24 hours.
  • Go through AI (either Rejects or sends to next stage).
  • Recommended point to add Upgraded if you wish to.
  • Grace period (believed between 1 and 7 days), multiple nominations in the same area seem to go 1 at a time.
  • Go to Voting.
  • Only at this time will an Upgrade have an effect. It works by sending to a wider area of reviewers meaning it should reach a conclusion sooner.

For future reference, if you want to make sure one gets voted on before another, you can put the one you want later on hold.

I am not sure understand the question. You can hold something as long as you want to. For your upgraded nomination to enter voting, I would expect it to enter voting within 7 days, probably sooner.

Also depends on your location.

If your area has a lot of nominators but not a lot of reviewers the process with take longer.

Do wait at least 24 hours after submitting before upgrading. ML, the AI system, usually takes 24 hours to make a decision. If you upgrade within this timeframe, it can cause a delay, as ML may not have finished reviewing yet.

I personally wait about 24-48 hours after submitting before applying an upgrade, and I tend to get a decision within a few days afterwards. So, this isn’t a bug, as it’s how the system works.

So, let ML do its work, then after 24 hours, if you still want to upgrade, you can do so.

Just for reference, I submitted 3 on July 1. One was accepted by Niantic Review, 1 was accepted after being upgraded while in voting and 1 is still in queue. My advice - don’t try to make sense of it.
