Dear All,
I nominated a new wayspot 3 days ago, on the 20th of September. I immediately hit Upgrade as I wanted to have it urgently. For 3 days now it is stuck “In Queue” status. In the past 3 days I upgraded 2 or 3 other nominations, which all got accepted in the meantime, I upgraded one another just today, and it immediately went to “In Voting”. My problem is that I’d think that my nomination should go to “In Voting” immediately after I upgrade it, do I think it incorrectly? I think this one is stuck for some reason.
Could someone please check it?
Thank you!
Hello and welcome,
Upgrading a nomination doesn’t put it into voting. What an upgrade does is open a nomination up to a larger review area, so that more reviewers are able to see it and hopefully make a decision on it sooner. Here’s more info on upgrades:
Most likely due to you hitting upgrade right away is causing the nomination to be slowed down a bit. There is an AI, known as ML, that does decide many nominations within 24-48 hours. It’s recommended to wait this timeframe before applying an upgrade, so that ML has a full chance to review. It’s possible that ML didn’t in this case, so that may be causing a little delay.
There is some time before a nomination will go into voting, whether you upgrade it or not. This can vary from 1-7 days.
We recommend that you don’t upgrade anything for at least the first 25 hours to see if the ML (machine learning ai) model will pick it up and decide it. If it does, you have wasted the upgrade. I think that this one will go into community voting since it has not been decided by ML yet.
oh, i have never seen evidence for this theory.
Thanks both, didn’t know about Machine Learning, I missed a few months, looks like I missed the big news.
I had it happen to me earlier this year. I submitted a nomination back in April/May and upgraded right away, but it took longer than normal to be approved. Others have noted this happening with ML more active these days as well.
With ML making so many of the decisions these days, it’s always best to wait 24-48 hours before upgrading, just in case it does make a decision.
100% agree with this part
(haven’t had any submissions NOT go to ML to check how upgrades are behaving since March)
I forgot to mention that using “Upload later” can reduce that time it spends “In queue” before the ML model decides a submission because I don’t use “Upload later”, but it is normally between 20-24 hours after submission otherwise.
