I’ve noticed something odd with my nominations and wanted to check if others are experiencing the same.
I nominated some POIs on the same day, one of my nominations that I applied an Upgrade to is still sitting in In Queue, while all my other non-upgraded nominations have already gone into In Voting or even received results. From my understanding, using an Upgrade should help speed up the review process, but in this case it feels like the opposite — the upgraded one is stuck while the others are moving forward.
Is this a common issue right now, or could it be a bug? Would love to hear if anyone else has faced this situation.

Upgrades don’t affect how quickly something moves from In Queue to In Voting. They speed up the voting process once it gets to In Voting, by opening up to a wider pool of voters.
One reason a submission might stay in the queue longer is if an existing submission in the same area is already in voting - to avoid duplicates, multiple wayspots close together can’t be in voting at the same time.

There could also be a delay if you upgrade within 24 hours after submitting. ML, the AI system, takes 24 hours to review a nomination, so it best to wait at least 24 hours before upgrading. I typically wait around 24-48 hours after submitting if I’m wanting to upgrade, or until it goes into voting.
The 7 day grace period can apply to any nomination, not just upgraded ones.
What upgrades actually do is open your nominations up to a larger review area, so more reviewers may see it, and it may be resolved sooner. It’s not guaranteed to be resolved sooner, but with a wider group of revierers, it may.

All of them got the result now, I was planing to share this topic few days ago so that’s the reason you don’t see any upgraded nomination in queue.
I actually did some nominations on September 20, 2025, there you may see the only one upgraded nomination on the date. It was the last one to get into In Voting and also the last one to receive the result, not sure if this is enough for you to do further checking on this?
Further checking may not be necessary. Each submission gets a random delay of 1-7 days before it can go into voting, so it could simply be that the one you chose to upgrade happened to be unlucky with a longer delay. (This is from observation by wayfarers, not official from Niantic.)
I agree with it, I believe I have the answer now, the upgraded nominations was actually approved within the grace period (7 days) which is valid according to your explanation. Thank you all for the insightful info again.
