Gym in Private Propierty

I have a problem with a PokéStop that’s been converted into a Gym. The issue is that the location the game chose for the Gym is private property or a residential complex. Because of this, the Pokémon GO community can’t access this Gym, which is unfair since we’re creating PokéStops so we can all play together and have a Gym nearby. Is it possible to move this Gym to another PokéStop?

Hello @Judatoo1103

It would be helpful if you could share in more detail. Items on the property of a Single Family Property are not eligible. But communal items in an apartment/condo complex or gated community can be eligible.

The question is, the community can’t enter that residential area and we’d literally waste time creating PokéStops. Is there any option to move even just the gym?

Gym selection is done by Pokemon Go. Once a wayspot has been accepted it is out of the hands of Wayfarer.

But if it is on the property of a Single Family home you can request removal. Otherwise you may just need to explore other areas of your community.

Could I file a complaint to have that PokéStop removed?

If it’s something in the public areas of a gated community, then you’re probably out of luck. Wayspots don’t have to be accessible to every single player. As long as there are players that do have access to it, it’s not breaking any rules.

It depends on where the wayspot is located. Is it at someone’s house?

yes

If it is a private home and not a communal item at an apartment/condo complex or gated community, then you should report it in game.

And how do I do that?

Go to the location and tap on the spinner or gym. Use the drop down and select Private Residential Property

Doesn’t that require getting within spinning distance of the Pokestop/Gym?

But this only works if this is truly a single family home. If this is another style of residential community this will not work.

yes, thats the problem.

That’s fair. They could also report it through the help chat. But they would still need proof of where and what it was.

I’m confused why you can’t get close to a house?

It makes me feel like you aren’t accurately describing the wayspot and location here.

I could understand it if it’s in a gated community that only lets in people who live there and people who are vetted by people who live there.

But yeah, a Google Maps link would be helpful.

Yes but things are valid in gated communities. So asking for removal would not be appropriate. And without more details we won’t know.

Things in communal areas of gated communities are. Something like, say, a swing set in the private backyard of a house in a gated community wouldn’t be.

But it’s hard to tell without knowing the object in question or where it is.
