Hello, there is a Gym problem in the large park area (Göztepe 60. Yıl Parkı) (40.9699216, 29.0583393) where we play with the Pokemon Go community with more than 1000+ players in Istanbul. This is the only park nearly all Istanbul players meets, creates events all the times. In the past years, Niantic made a special fix in this park area and added extra PokeStops and Gyms for our community (Turkiye Parkı and Niantic Gyms). They said that these extra additions were permanent and special and that the existing PokeStops and Gyms would not be affected by this. After years later, 3 or more Gyms intentionally removed in our park and we cannot create new ones. Since Niantic Pokemon Go team left Türkiye there is no one we can talk for help. In addition, although we added new PokeStops, we cannot trigger the other missing Gyms even if those cells have 20+ PokeStops. I dont know if you can help us but there is no one we can talk for assistance.
There were 3 other gyms before. The Niantic team added extra 3 more to support the larger community here. Over the years, some gyms have closed and have not been replaced. Niantic and Turkiye Parkı Gyms should be the extra added.

I think you misunderstood me. We don’t want the closed gyms to reopen. Since the three gyms added by Niantic were previously added as extras, why can’t we trigger new gyms instead of closed ones? Although there were previously three gyms in the same cell, the number has increased to 4 or 5 with the additions made by Niantic. Because now the current number of gyms has dropped to the same amount as before the Niantic team added extras. I hope I’ve made my point.
I know natural maximum number is 3. But those gyms added extras by Niantic Türkiye team. Gym names are Niantic and Turkiye parkı. And stayed like that years until some of the other gyms closed.
As was explained, when the cell was recalculated, the density of gyms was corrected. If you have three in the L14 S2 cell, there is nothing to be fixed.
(I am really sorry about this, btw, if it doesn’t sound like I care. It is devastating to lose a gym.)
Basically, what’s going on is that sponsored/Niantic created gyms are able to bypass some of the normal placement rules, but they still otherwise function as regular gyms.
So for example, say you already have a Level 14 S2 Cell with 3 regular gyms in it. The game is aware that this cell has the maximum number of gyms, and so no more can naturally be created. Niantic then comes along and gives you 3 Niantic created gyms in this Level 14 S2 Cell. They can bypass the regular limit of 3 gyms, taking you up to 6 in that cell. However, they are still gyms, and so the game is now aware that the cell has 6 gyms in it, and that the maximum should still be 3.
If one of the regular gyms was then to get removed from that cell, a new one won’t be created to take its place because the game looks at the available data, sees that there’s still 5 gyms in this cell, and as 5 is greater than 3, it won’t create another gym.
Those gyms shouldn’t calculated with other gyms. That doesnt make any sense and not fair. So those extra gyms only available if natural ones are not removed. Basically, even if those gyms removed by some illegal actions or intentionally there is no one can help. Nice.
Did you check how many gym inside lv 14 cell? Since we dont have wayspot map, this need to come from you. If the lvl 14 cell already have 3 gyms/20 wayspot, there is nothing to be fixed. You need to confirm this first
If any of those gyms got removed in future, the cell will recalculate
The cells have filled their natural rights. Fortunately, the park’s location is at the intersection of four L14 cells, and most gyms are inside the park. Three additional gyms were added to the park with the help of the Niantic team, but since the old gyms were closed over time, those extra gyms are now using their existing natural rights. The system can’t distinguish between specially added gyms and natural gyms. This is the problem, and there seems to be no solution.
It doesn’t appear that there is a problem needing any solution, apart from one of understanding.
Each L14 cell can have up to 3 gyms naturally. It is possible to have more through sponsored gyms and Niantic creating extra, as happened here.
If any gyms are removed, you still have a limit of 3 natural gyms in each L14 cell. You cannot get the extra gyms replaced.
There is nothing unfair about this in your area. Everyone else has to cope with a maximum of 3 gyms per L14 cell - you just had a period where you had extras and might still have extras.
Some people intentionally reported our gyms even if they are in the wayfarer rules and removed them. Each cell now has 3 gyms. I just want to mean if there are any extra gyms (sponsored, niantic created etc) they should remain as extra. For example 3 natural + 2 extra total 5 gym in same cell but if one of the natural ones removed system cannot create new one because there are still 4 gyms (2 natural 2 extra). We just lost extra gyms that Niantic gave us because of those people removed our natural gyms. My point is extra gyms should stayed as extra even if one of the natural ones removed system should create another natural gym. Thats all.
You are asking for special treatment. Also, just because someone reported a wayspot (gym) isn’t enough to get it removed - Niantic staff also have to evaluate it and find that the wayspot is no longer eligible and meets removal criteria.
So it is very likely that gyms were removed which were not eligible and needing to be removed. Examples might be graffiti or objects which no longer exist. It is difficult to justifiably complain that this caused a problem.
Short answer is no. As staff ald stated that everything is working as intended. Anyway as far as i know, staff here cant decide which wayspot become gym. In the event that gym got incorrectly removed and then reinstated, it usually return as pokestop. You need to ask pokemon go about extra gym
