Yeah, reviewers don’t get anything in terms of the new stops - those are the reward for the submitters and may be half way across the country from the people who review it!
IMO that suggestion rewards people for submitting in already popular areas when a lot of times our mission as Wayfarers is to help small communities that probably have little to no existing players.
why would we need people to review? The solution is already here: Emily.
The ML system cannot reliably approve wayspots. It can do a fairly good job of rejecting many ineligible wayspots, but it is nowhere near good enough at that to rely on and assume that everything that gets past ML is good wayspot.
Because we all know the mistakes the Machine Learning model made back when it was allowed to accept without human intervention.

Um, don’t know how this got marked as the solution to this discussion, but if staff or a mod want to change it…
Edit: Thanks for removing the solution check! Continue the discussion.
this would just strain from the topic; but: we all know the mistakes the reviewers are making during their review. Without AI intervention.
I mean, if the Niantic appeal reviewers severely drop the ball, I just take it to this here forum and it usually gets corrected pretty quickly.
Do you have proof of this? If so, feel free to open up a new thread to discuss, so this thread can stay focused on rewards for reviewing.
The Wayfarer system relies on both submitters and reviewers. However, the current upgrade rewards alone are insufficient motivation to continue reviewing. Thanks to eMiLy from Machine Learning and last year’s Wayfarer Challenge, the queue times have improved significantly. In my region, without upgrades, there used to be a two-year wait, but now it resolves within a week. For many Wayfinders, the reason to keep reviewing has disappeared. I continue a little each day because I believe the situation will deteriorate again if I stop reviewing.
I have reviewed thousands of nominations, maintaining a habit of doing 10-30 reviews daily. However, recently I’ve stopped entirely because the process feels tedious and unrewarding.
Honestly, current incentives aren’t enough. I believe exclusive cosmetic rewards would be a game-changer. Imagine a unique outfit or a sparkling medallion/necklace that is visible to everyone when viewing my avatar or standing in a Gym lobby.
This kind of ‘prestige’ reward would give veteran reviewers like me the motivation to return, without encouraging bad actors to spam reviews just for in-game resources
I would jump for joy if a submission medal was added. To me it seems like people just review those 1500 submissions to get to that platinum medal. After that they never touch Wayfarer again. Of the around 200 players I have met during Meetups I only know of 4 that have actively submitting stops in the past and 1 besides me that is still actively submitting in this city.
A submission medal could be a incentive for more players to submit Wayspots and more wayspots in the area makes the game more enjoyable for the local community.
Personally I would also enjoy more submissions and not just one new refreshing every day. Due to the reviewing process being so drastically fast currently I wouldn’t mind the choice getting 10 submissions instead of an upgrade.
To not loose track I noted all objects I took pictures of and wanted to submit. With one refreshing submission per day I will be finished end of May. But it will probably take longer if I’ll have to resubmit denied nominations too. Would be nice I could go through with this faster. Maybe I should have gotten into Ingress before the split.
More appeals would help too.
While this is great gameplay-wise, IMO a set number of accepted pokestops/wayspots is unrealistic considering the different circumstances in reality vs the volume of players. The progression of eligible candidates existing in real life may be slower than the influx of players in real time.
It creates a perverse incentive for incorrect acceptances which would then lead to more bans, either knowingly or unknowingly.
This is somewhat contradictory, but as similar answers have been given for quite some time, honestly, special costumes or poses in PoGo are unlikely.
Why? Because Wayfarer isn’t part of PoGo.
What you submit and review in Wayfarer are wayspots, not PokéStops.
Furthermore, it essentially depends on your PoGo Trainer Level and requires submission from PoGo, yet Wayfarer isn’t part of PoGo.
Wayfarer remains entirely independent.
Additionally, Wayspots aren’t exclusive to PoGo; they’re shared with Pikmin and MHNow.
So, while it’s a huge contradiction, special costumes or poses based on Wayfarer achievements won’t be distributed within PoGo.
However, just as Ingress shirts were distributed in PoGo long ago, a Wayfarer costume “anyone can wear” might appear.
But that decision lies with PoGo, not Wayfarer.
Wayfarer has no authority over it.
This is not entirely correct.
Previous Wayfarer Challenges that gave in game rewards show that Wayfarer / Pokemon Go Can and Have worked together.
So as a discussion no reward is off the table.
If they give us a medal in Pokemon Go for reviewing, why not a pose or costume?
I suggest adding physical rewards for reviewers, such as pins or necklaces, based on agreement tiers (Bronze for 10, up to Diamond for 10k).
Imagine the pride of walking into a local Gym wearing one of these items. It would be a great way for the community to recognize the people who work hard to improve our local map
I want to walk alongside Pikachu dressed in an adventurous outfit worthy of a Wayfarer.
Oh hell nah another Pikachu outfit ![]()
Make it a Wooper and I’m in
